Infinite Tools Similar Mechanic to Finishers
I don’t think there would be enough demand for this to make it worthwhile. When the market is “Players who buy more than one infinite tool of the same type (pick, sickle, axe,) and then equip it to the same character just to change the effect, but don’t like having to carry around the extra item,” that seems like an awfully small market.
Fair enough. I’ve purchased tools for all of my characters, so I would be in a niche market. I wish they would implement something like this, but more likely than not it would be a waste of resources as they’d have to code a whole new system. Maybe years from now after they have dozens of skins cycling through and the demand is dying they’d introduce this, but there is always new alts and accounts being created to fuel that market.
I actually posted this exact suggestion before lol.
It’s a good idea IMO.
Account-wide “unlocks” is a technique I would like to see applied to many things. The finisher system is great. We already have it for skins (sort of). Let’s see it for gathering tools, salvage kits, novelty items (kites, infinite tonics, minipets etc), all skins, living story items (continue coin, gauntlet tickets, tassi’s golem, evon/kiel support badges, etc), and MORE!

Yeah, account-wide unlocks would be awesome if used in more situations.
As for affecting their gem purchases, at least for me the chances of me buying more than one infinite use tool of the same type is pretty much non-existent (unless it has a new skin and effect which I find irresistible). I’ll just use the character with the unbreaking tool for the majority of my gathering and let my others hold on to breakable ones.
Being able to pass around the tools to my other characters would just be nice feature.
Heck, it might even promote the purchase of future tools since I would know that I could pass my existing unbreakable tool off to an alt so my main character can use the shiny new one.
