Q:

I read a couple of threads re: players having issues trading directly (not recieving the item/not getting paid). I see that there currently is no method to do a secure transaction outside of the BLTC.

Is there/would it be possible to add a feature to the BLTC whereby you can add an item for sale and add a restriction that only allows a particular player to purchase that item?

Along the same lines would it be possible to add an option to restrict the items to guild members. LOTRO has this as an option and it allows guild members an easy and secure way to sell items at reduced prices to fellows guild members. This could be added as an option to be built using Guild Rep.

Cheers,
M.

You should be able to trust your guildmates…

If not, I’d leave that guild immediately!

SoE have finally been knocked off the top spot
in the list of developers I have the least faith & trust in.
Congratulations ArenaNet!

While I understand what you are asking for, and I miss the ability to trade person to person as this would allow, making it available in the BLTC would be far too messy. It’s already horrendous just trying to get items handled with the “offers” that are below vendor price etc.

The best way you can handle this is by putting it up there and telling the person its available, if they aren’t fast – they are last. Someone else got the good deal.

If you really want a specific person to get it – if it really is that critical for you, mail it. Just don’t mail anything you aren’t willing to loose out on the return for.

And as for trading with guild members – well I agree with Jestunhi – if you can’t trust your guild mates, leave the guild already. That is supposed to be the people who always have your back and you have theirs. That is the spine of what Guild Wars (2) is built on.

I play plenty of games that allow things like private trades, or restricted sales, and it works fine in those because THOSE are designed around it. This game isn’t and it is far too huge, and with the game wide (not just server wide) BLTC. I hate to think of the headache you would have to go through to try to buy an item if people reserved them for other players (it would potentially become a second bank – people just posting stuff for their own characters to pick up as and when, etc.)

it allows guild members an easy and secure way to sell items at reduced prices to fellows guild members.

If you are guild leader then I would simply ask for payment first then send the item via mail.

If you are a player consult with the guild leader if he can act as intermediary. both of you send the item & gold to him/her so that he/she verifies and re sends.

As others posters said if you do not trust the guild leader then you should look for a better guild. Guildmates on the other unless you know them for a while I understand why you would feel uneasy specially if one or both parties are new to the guild.

Cancer is also a Zodiac sign.
