Its Hard to Earn!
It’s hard to earn because others in the game are getting better. With any money market for every coin someone earns someone else loses. To make money you have to play the market better, catch the wave early when an exploit has been identified, and don’t tell your secrets if you’re the one who discovers it, but I guarantee anything profitable wont last as others catch on.
I guess its how you look at it.
I find it incredibly easy to make money,
Up until a month ago I had never had 1g , until a friend showed me how to farm t6 mats, that led to me listing a few on tp… a few trips to TP and i noticed the buy orders and sell prices on things …and went mmmm why farm when i can do the same while i sleep. I now have over 500g not world shattering but a lot more than the 45s I had a month ago LOL
but you have to change your methods all the time, as stormageddonBK said once other catch on , you need to move on and find the next money maker.
I would be alright with them allowing an organized way to trade off of the tp ONLY if they give permanent bans for account and IP (no warning ever) to those spamming chats with WTS/WTB bullcrap. I was so happy to get away from that from gw1… don’t wanna put up with that again.
I also agree with the poster above.. unless your farming something in dungeons/open world.. when it comes to farming the tp once others catch on to something you need to move onto the next thing.. that is the key right there.
But quite seriously, until you have a substantial amount of money the TP isn’t really a viable way to make money considering you can make 7-10g an hour farming skelk on southsun right now or farming cof p1… get a solid base amount of money (a few hundred gold) then give the tp a whirl.
If you find it hard to earn then you have to learn how to farm.
I make +50g a day (20g weekdays) without running cof farming
But then people say, “But I shouldn’t be forced to farm in order to make money! I should just be playing the game the way I want to in order to make money!”
I’m sorry to tell you but if Arenanet made a system where playing the game the ‘right’ way without farming was profitable enough, farmers would have already found the best routes/areas to make money. Which would bring us full circle and starting over again.

This… theres always going to be people that are wealthier than the average player because they’re going to find the fastest way to make money and beat it to death and we are right back where we started.
I make decent money overall in the game. Would like to be able to play the TP but every time I try I have no idea what items to look for

Sometimes you can find them by accident when you loot things,
You say the economy is getting worse, in what regard? What is it that you would buy that you cannot?
Four quick tips:
1) Prioritize what you want to buy
2) Don’t aim to be rich for the sake of being rich (unless that is your goal in part 1)
3) Pursue your priorities in the best way possible (ie, if you want more bag space, consider simply buying bigger bags rather than buying a bag slot; if you can’t stand farming in groups, find a solo route and ignore CoF)
4) Seek specific help for specific questions—having priorities will help shape these better.
