It’s the most majestic and beautiful weapon ever created, and we finally see it in GW2, but in the hands of Berlinda. The sister of Majory.

1) How do I get it?

2) when on the back(unequiped) it’s sheathed. Does this mean it has a drawing-sword-out-of-sheath-animation? That would be really cool!

3) Do you think there is a legendary Hatori Hanzo sword-figure type person in the game who makes it or do you think it will be a gem store thing?

I can guarantee you the animation will be no different from any other greatsword. Your character will instantly have it in their hand upon using a skill. If you stand still long enough your character will put it on their back the same way they would sheath a fellblade, sunrise, or zenith avenger.

You’re both thinking of the nodachi/odachi which is the greatsword eq. of the katana. Often the katana was sheathed and placed low and cross-wise at the small of the lower back but placement varied based on the wielder’s style.

If it were put in the game, the katana would more likely be on the side of the character in the style for swords (one handed) currently. The sheath could be an ‘unequiped’ visual but would likely disappear in combat.

Even if it’s “the most majestic and beautiful” weapon, it’s most certainly not the most effective, practical, or versatile :/ :\ :|

I would totally pay for it! Please give both one-handed and two-handed version.
And a true Japanese Katana design!

Prety sure it will be in game, as a greatsword for sure… You can already preview the skin in the wardrobe; great sword section, Iron Greatsword.

It looks like it will be in a sheath (like Bellinda’s) when on your back, and a blade (unsheathed) when drawn.

Guessing a gem store item like Kasmeer/majory/rox/brahm’s weapons.

Belinda’s sword is too long to be a one handed weapon.

That’s no katana. That looks more like an oodachi, an old kind of Japanese greatsword. Katanas are shorter and have more polished shapes, as they came later.

As others have said, that’ll probably be something in the trading post. They may also bring back some of the old skins for a week or so like Rox’s quiver. Prepare your credit card or save gems.

I guess.. It’s just one of the most asked for weapons, that is why I am excited about it’s prospects in the game.

A question though; Do you think Kasmeer’s staff will make a return as well?

I want katanas AND odachis in game, sword and greatsword respectively.

It was the generic weaponsmith sword in Cantha.
