There is nothing at all (on the webpage or the gemstore) that says anything about Black Friday.

But I suppose people always have to complain about something, even if they have nothing (real) to complain about.

The title of the sale on the Black Lion Trading Post is clearly “Black Friday Weekend Sale”.

I’m frustrated by the sale. I want the mining pick that is part of the “Gathering Tool 3-Pack”, but I have 2 other perma-tools, so I can’t get the pack.

they could have done like this:
– single gathering tool 20% discounted
– pack 25% discounted

by this way, who already have 1 or 2 tools, could buy the one he needs, while still the pack being more attractive for those want all of 3

At that price, I best get twice the mats from each use over the Ori tools. That’s something like 12 bucks each tool, right?

Yeah, the price of the infinite tools was changed to 1000 gems each when they became account bound.

What I always worry on these sales is that there will soon be something extra nifty added and I’ll have spent my gems on the sale so then I have to buy more gems if I want the cool new thing. Which I can, but I’ve started hesitating to use up my gem reserve when a new patch is coming.

Aha… so…

Lets say I grind 300 mining, 300 lumber and 150 weeds = 3x each type of ori tools at 4s a piece? 12×3 = 36 silver.

Or… I can buy a tool for 1000 gems which costs 12 bucks (like 80G – 8G per 100gems to buy)… and oh… they have a cool animation…

If I totally farmed my ears off every day, I might eventually farm enough to actually consider this worth the use practically… no doubts they look cool, which, if that’s your thing I totally understand, but….

They seem excessively expensive for what they are…. I might consider the sale at half the cost, but I’ll happily leave the current price to the wealthier folks who consider it cool or a real convenience.

They are convenience items. I buy them so I don’t have to think about getting gathering tools on my most played characters.

I guess its a value of money thing and my RL money is worth more than what amounts to simple convenience. .

Most likely some issue with the cache of the website.
So it is an error at your end, not ArenaNet.

Nothing in the gem shop is a Need. You can play the game just fine without them.

i plan on being on this game for a Loooooong time with my mesmer sooo, i bought all 3, makes sense in the long run theyll save me alot of cash and they extremely convenient
