Q:
“A man chooses; a slave obeys.” | “Want HardMode? Play Ranger!”
Q:
How is it that we can’t wear other tier armor skins (even if they would fit more in role),
because the statement was “keep recognise-able tier” – and now Lights and Heavy users wear Ninjasuits, but even Medium and Heavy can wear light ones like trickster.
In a WWW fight it isn’t easy to recognise – not even big problem for me.
Just asking; Is here any plan to make the tier skins be wear-able for everyone?
It would multiply the cosmetic diversity greatly – and people wouldn’t be forced to use a class for a specific way of look. Isn’t this what GW2 should be about?
P.s.: Clipping is our problem until they don’t fix it, it’s not an excuse!
A:
I forget where I’ve seen it but the answer pretty much was that there will be too many clipping issues. This is I would believe also the reason why they made the “outfits” what they are, biting the bullet because they could not solve this reasonably (within their own quality assurance).
This is not to say that I would not like to have this happen, I would like that very much indeed, but I’d wager that if we are not beyond the point of implementation that it will still take a while before it will happen.
Sort of the same reason why I don’t think Brahams Helm will not remove my beard soon and why I don’t think the Adventurers Scarf will soon look good (on that character) because of the beard.
I don’t think that’s what you wanted to hear and hopefully it turns out I’m wrong!
You can also wear a wizard or wintersday outfit. Not exactly heavy armor either. It’s the design of outfits, they are meant to be used by all, regardless of weight class.
Hats are still acceptable, since you don’t directly look faces, but whole bodies instead.
In their thinking.
I do check their animation effects and nameplate.
So, none knows anythign about this “design flaw”?

Didn’t you answer your own concern to this “design flaw”?

I don’t think so. The reason can’t be the body-look recognise after these items, so only thing that seems possible is the clipping issues. Well, I think most of us could live with that until it’s fixed. I’ll keep my hope on this.
Thank you guys for the answers!
If I could use medium armor on my heavy guy I’d be so happy… Until then I’ll keep rocking my Pimp Coat (Winter’s day outfit).
From what they have said, it’s not the clipping that’s the problem but that the different weight classes simply can’t be mixed together.

“When we started looking at bringing more of the clothing back into armor with mix and match styles there are some fundamental incompatible things between weight classes. (part of how we set up every armor to allow many dye channels and styles per piece). There really is no way at this point over six years since we started development to make absolutely everything work together. So we needed something new to continue to grow in the future. Outfits give us a way to create highly stylized looks that aren’t constrained to armor slots or weight class".

That’s the answer to why you can’t mix/match outfits isn’kitten not why they keep the limit of light/med/heavy armor restricted by profession.
