Guild Wars 2

So I was talking to my friend after he logged into the game after a somewhat lengthy hiatus. Having purchased the cook’s outfit previously, I told him to talk to the armorsmith guy near the Trading Post to redeem his former outfits. He has done this, and for some reason the Cook Outfit he purchased near the release of the game is a consumable item. As in, when he clicks on one of them in the stack it gave him, it depletes the number.

So figuring maybe this had to do with their new Outfits tab, I told him to check there. It prompted him to ‘purchase’ the outfit. Which is a bit (read: Absolutely ridiculous)…odd. So my question is thus: Is this a bug or was this an intended design? If the former, I’ll have him contact support (He’s currently so frustrated he refuses to.) If this is an intentional design…that’s extremely bad business.

It sounds like that item was a town clothes. If memory serves, when they revamped the wardrobe system all the past town clothes were converted over to tonics and there was an option to get a refund at that time. He can ask for a refund but iirc there was about a month allowed for that and it’s past.

I don’t know why they didn’t send out new costumes to those who purchased the old town clothes. Perhaps it’s because they don’t track purchases made with gold bought gems, since those don’t bring them an income. They annoyed a lot of people with this and if they sent out costumes to some but not others, then there would have been an even greater uproar so they decided to annoy people equally, rather than some more than others.
