Listing Fee and Projected Profit
Ofcourse it’s not. Doesn’t require that high level in mathamancy to figure it out.
Outsource rng → profit.
You say that like it makes sense that the listing fee is not taken into account when displaying the projected profit. That number is a lie, even if it is only projected. Why is it not factored into the projected profit is the real question. When you’re projecting profits you should factor in your costs otherwise your numbers will be off. I never bothered calculating because who lists there projected profits without factoring in all the costs? It makes no sense at all.
Projected profit = the amount you will get when it sells.
The 5% listing fee is not taken off when it sells, it’s taken off when it’s listed.
Therefore it’s not included in the projected profit figure.

After some calculations I figured out if you want to receive X amount of money for an item you need the add 17.65% to the price of the item when you list it on the Trading Post.
You pay the 5% up front. When it sells you get the 5% back but they take 15% of the price it sold for. The extra 2.65% overall comes from having to pay the 15% fee the your mark-up just to try and get the price you want.
To recive 100 Silver = Selling price 117s 65c minus 17s 65c Fees (15% of Selling Price)
AFAIK You don’t get the listing fee back.

The game actually says in the tooltip you get it back, but your right…you really do not get money back.
Game Mechanics: Tooltips say there is a 5% listing fee. If the item sells you get your 5% listing back and they take 15% of the selling price.
How a Player see’s it: You pay a 5% listing fee of the Asking Price up front. When the item sells another 10% is taking out of the sale price of the item, you get the rest.
Both these have the same outcome in the end.
Actually, as of a couple days ago, the amount listed under projected profit is the amount you’re receiving. If you ‘do the math’, the projected profit amount is now added directly to your trade profit, which is the amount you pick up when you cash out. No math is required anymore. When you click the ‘OK’ button to sell, it now shows the original sale amount before all the taxes and listing fees.
I don’t know which patch changed this functionality, but after a couple days of wondering why sale prices were wacky I spent this morning testing it.

That’s right.
But as the listing fee is paid when you list. The projected profit tells you how much you get back (90% of list price) but does not account for the 5% paid when you list an item.

As of right now, in my client, the amount listed under ‘Projected Profit’ is my profit…it is fully reflecting all fees, taxes, etc. Again, this started over the weekend, but I’ve not found any mention that they changed it in the patch notes. As I said earlier, I’ve been testing it all day.

There’s 2 possibilities.
1. It displays the price after all fees & taxes.
2. It displays the amount that you collect after selling the item.
Both cannot be true as the listing fee is applied when you list the item, not when it sells. Therefore it doesn’t alter the amount you get when the item sells.
