Mad King's Outfit in Gem Store
Most imba Costume Brawl skill suit is back!
are the weapon skins from last year available (ghastly, greatsaw etc) with this update?
Etien: No, but you can get them on the TP still if you have the means.
There are new weapons you can give with BL tickets. Might be easier to farm the necessary gold for those though.
That’s just fantastic. So I’ve spent money for gems prior to the event hoping to “beat out the RNG” from those chests just to get the skins from last year. Such a waste. And the prices in the TP are beyond reach for me. Just great. The new ones are ‘meh’. Guess I will never ever again spend rl money/gold for whatever is involved with gem purchase or manipulative re-sellers. Lesson learned. Thx Kopper.
Awesome so nice to have old + new costume brawl toys and armor so happy now :P Edit ty for placing the costume brawl items form last year

Yeah I’ve been wanting to get it since I saw it for the first time and was looking forward.
I’m kinda sad that they brought back the old skins, I mean they’re just town clothes so i guess it doesn’t really matter, but I like the idea of having something exclusive that says “hey I played during this holiday and here’s proof” (pvp Halloween skins only thing left now). I wish they would have gone all out like they did last year with the wep skins, like separate skins obtained from pve/pvp that had SO much more detail and effort put into them than these new skins.. and you actually had to earn them in game, not just RNG with cash shop. :/
tbh i’ve never had so much fun in a mmorpg holiday event as i did in gw2’s 2012 Halloween one. Maybe it’s just nostalgia or something since everyone was still stoked to play pvp back then, idk.
They must have riffed their art team or something tho.

Something like the Devil Horns, Witch Hat, Phantom’s Hood, “Master Carver” and “Emissary of the Mad King” titles, or either level of the Mad Memoires?
There are more than enough ways to show you participated in Halloween 2012, so I don’t think the Witch and Mad King outfits need to be restricted to that list as well.

yeah, that’s kinda all pve stuff tho. Witches hat and horns are barely noticeable, i like the phantoms hood, but it’s town clothes. As someone who’s spent maybe 8 hours in pve since launch (I crafted a character up to lvl80 by selling laurels earned in pvp, explored main cities, played through super adventure box a few times, and did dragon bash minigame arena when it came out), there isn’t much. Like i said, I don’t really care about town clothes, no one sees them anyways, I just wish the combat skins were… well more, you know? It shouldn’t be hard to bake up 2 skins per weapon (1 set for pve and 1 for pvp), they’ve been able to do a skin for pretty much every weapon for the past few events. Like 5 meh weapon skins for the Halloween event… are you kidding? idk I was just expecting more.
They were also even so nice as to raise its original price by 200 gems.
Did they really? Wow.
I couldn’t remember their price from last year. Can anyone else confirm that these costumes were 500gems last year?
costs the same this year as it did last year. here’s a page listing the price from last year (there are also vids on youtube from last year that have the price in the description):

Good; glad to be wrong. Looks like the wiki needs some updating.
Dear ArenaNet,
I wanted to tell you that I love you for putting the Mad King’s Outfit in the black lion trading co gem store. That is all. I felt the need to make this thread just for that reason to tell you this.Sincerely, Avelos.
Thank you! We’re glad you like it.
Go forth and brawl!

Hrm. I’m not sure why you’re sad about them bringing back outfits they’ve already created, then, since they were never usable in your preferred game mode in the first place.
:/
People are mad if they DO bring skins back, and people are mad if DON’T bring skins back. Why can’t you make everyone happy ANET?
Hooray for mad king’s armor, except that its a freakin town clothes.. -3-
why not just make it for combat……. bye bye mad king armor..

So nice of you to answer the complimentary threads, but ignore the more invested, detailed, uncomfortable ones.

Why do you reply to positives but you don’t say anything to critical or important threads????? Seriously!!!!
Because devs might not want to waste hours arguing about balance and execution on the forum? Especially when they know anything they say is going to be dissected by a wide bunch of readers, and, more than likely, held up by someone at some point as “ArenaNet doesn’t have a clue!” or “ArenaNet promised!”
I know it’s easy to be cynical about the kinds of posts that get dev responses, but anytime I put myself in their shoes, I absolutely get why they wouldn’t want to get dragged into anything complicated or especially controversial on the forum. There’s no major time investment to say “Thank you, we’re glad you like it!”, an exchange that makes both you and the person you’re responding to happy, but if you get dragged into a long, drawn-out, multi-point, controversial discussion on content execution and balance, chances are it’s going to eat up a ton of your time, and no one will walk away happy about it.
They generally don’t have a responsibility to post on the forums (outside Account Issues, anyway,) and that means they’re probably only going to post in threads that can be handled quickly, with a minimal chance of ruining their day. Few people like to fight over their work, especially not with the internet mob. Whether it’s on the job or at home later, the last thing I want to do is get into a written grilling session about my professional work with a bunch of strangers who are already worked up over something. My boss can grill me about what I’m doing, but I don’t have to engage individual customers on it. That’s not unreasonable.
And, of course, that’s not even getting into the issue that not every single dev is involved with every part of the game, or can answer any given question.
I’d say something on-topic, but I’ve already posted in this thread, and really just wanted to address the two posts jumping on the dev and demanding answers.

Redenaz, you have to be kidding. There is no other option.
A few gems:
- “Because devs might not want to waste hours arguing about balance … is going to be dissected by a wide bunch of readers” – Halloween feedback is “balance”? And by “bunch of readers” you mean product customers?
- “but if you get dragged into a long, drawn-out, multi-point, controversial discussion” – Go see what I was asking for in my thread! 3 words will also “eat up a ton of time”??
- “They generally don’t have a responsibility to post on the forums” – I assume you are new to the forums. No other explanation.
- “they’re probably only going to post in threads that can be handled quickly, with a minimal chance of ruining their day” – O’ will my feedback thread “ruin their day”? Please – if not for making the game better – allow me to apologize that my customer feedback “ruins days”!
- “the last thing I want to do is get into a written grilling session about my professional work with a bunch of strangers” – Welcome to the job-description of forum reps. And “bunch of strangers” are paid customers. Business understanding does not appear to be your best.
- “I don’t have to engage individual customers on it. That’s not unreasonable.” – The very sign of bad health to any product. If you were my customer rep, I’d fire you for ignoring important customer feedback.
- “that’s not even getting into the issue that not every single dev … can answer any given question” – Yes! Because we required “every single dev” to answer “any given question”! Not a forum rep relating to forum feedback - but each and every dev in the company for each and every question! All of them no less!
I would have ignored your malcomment if I haven’t invested my time in my feedback thread.
Heck I just don’t know if you even think before shooting these.

I actually didn’t read your thread, because I wasn’t just talking about your thread; you and slsharpshooter both mention threads, plural, and while yours isn’t half bad, actually responding to your complaints, rather than giving you the “this was read” that you’re asking for, would take substantially longer than you give it credit for. And if they simply gave a “this was read,” people would still be dissatisfied by them not answering to specific points…only now people might expect that “Let me know that you’ve read this” is a magic phrase to get dev attention. They’re not generally going to respond to someone who asks for a “have you read this?” response, because when they don’t, people are still going to do the exact thing that’s happened in this thread, jumping up and asking why their thread hasn’t been personally acknowledged.
Judging from her post history, Nicolle Rodgers seems to mostly handle account support and Black Lion support. Even if she, specifically, reads your “Disappointed with Halloween” thread, and lets you know that she read it, that…really doesn’t accomplish anything, at least regarding your complaints about a lot of the Living Story stuff. If you have a bug to report or a question about the functionality of a trading post item, that’s one thing, but most of your complaints are about Living Story design issues.
It’s one thing to ask a support staffer something on one of the support boards and expect a response. It’s another thing to post feedback in one of the Living World boards and expect a response from a support staffer. I know you weren’t asking for a response specifically from a support staffer, but that’s the one you’ve jumped on for daring to respond casually to something easy and positive.
It’s a bit like going up to the returns desk in a department store and asking them, voice dripping with scorn, why their print adds are so bad. If they’re an excellent rep, they might pass those concerns along, but they weren’t the right person to bring that complaint to in the first place.
I have no use for pricey town clothes. ANet successfully dodged getting my money by limiting the utility of these assets to townwear.
Ah well.
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”
- Jareth, King of Goblins.
I love the skins, they are awesome. I was hoping to get the armor of the Bloody Prince, and also the armor of The Mad King as well. No luck for me it seems. Apart from that they are truly awesome.
at one point they have to add some of the features already in GW1, like town clothing you can show in battle or a festifal hat NPC for all the hats and a costume keeper to retrieve all your costumes for all your characters.
it’s not that hard Anet, you have the code, add the kitten things.

While I don’t mind having things listed as “limited time” items coming back for others to enjoy, I’d like to have the option to earn the in-game items again to be fair about it.
It seems like an odd way to treat the people buying stuff from you – the stuff you bought as “limited time” items we’re going to start selling to people again, but that “limited time” in-game content you didn’t complete last year is lost to you forever. It isn’t like they couldn’t set up portals and instances to let people experience each year’s content again to get rewards.
