Major Sigil of Air
Major Sigil of Air is one of the most frequent sigils people get when they salvage their rares. That type of weapon seems to drop with that sigil. As a result, there is a steady supply of these sigils on the market which makes it good for people who place buy orders so that they can gamble.

I guess I don’t understand how the market works then, which is OK.
I thought maybe people were actually using them for something, like if you combined 4 of them in the MF, there was a chance at getting something amazing, something like that.
Wouldn’t they need to be selling for a whole lot more than they are to warrant all the weapons that contain them having their price shoot up? Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining, I’ve been selling mine, and the demand has been great. I just don’t understand how they could possibly be making money if all they are doing is stripping the sigil out and then selling the sigil? Some of those weapons are going for like 50s, when they used to maybe get 35?
Edit: I guess to clarify, it’s the increase in the demand and prices of the weapons that have those sigils that is confusing me, and not any direct evaluation of the ‘major sigil of air’ market itself that had me curious. I’m not even really sure how much those sell for. Which made me curious as to if the sigils themselves had some value outside of cash value?
Exactly. Playing the MF slots in hope to get one of the better Superior Sigils. It’s that or ripping apart an exotic that has one with a BLSK. It’ll cost you 80s on average for a Superior to pop out.
As for the unholy prices of rares with the major sigil, who knows. I’m just glad I can sell it guaranteed for a price higher than an average salvage outcome could get.

Thanks. I guess I’ll just keep selling mine while the market is good.
From a price perspective, that Superior Sigil of Air isn’t all the expensive, I can’t imagine you wouldn’t just buy one for 75s.
I guess I need to watch the items I’m selling more carefully, maybe it’s ‘all’ of certain types of weapons that have increased quite a bit? Maybe the increased prices of precursors have made people fall back on trying to roll one in the MF, so they are scooping up items to melt? And the most common drops just happen to have the Air sigil in it, so maybe it has nothing to do with the sigil itself, it just seems that way?
Tossing major ones into the forge has a 20% chance to give you superior. The type is totally random and has no relation to the type the raw material were. And it’s likely not even an evenly weighted random distribution. Plus there’s a handful that soulbound on acquire. You can’t even sell them on the TP. Use them or sell them for 4s to an NPC vendor.

They’re also useful for adding to Krait Rares (which have no suffix) so you’re not guaranteed to get another bloody Krait rare with no suffix. Call it an “entropy inducer”.
