Make ambrite collectables sellable on tp
I understand there might be economic concerns, but I think is a good idea.
yespls
it’s going to be especially painful to get the recipes when dry top is no longer the “in” place to be. hopefully they have something planned to make those more obtainable later on

Yeah very true.
Inb4 they end up in the gemstore instead. 500gems each.
So I think that the option should be made to make the ambrite fossils and weapons sell-able or tradeable for those who do not want the items and instead of trashing the items they should be able to sell them to the players who want the items for crafting I think this option would be great for those who don’t have the time to do events such as farm geodes (like me) in hopes to get a key after their own story event keys have run dry- to be able to have the items to do so.
Anet tries to cater to alot of players and playstyles.
Some players dont pay for gems but spend alot of time in game and would like to be able to earn account bound trophies that show their time spent in game.
Some players rather spend gems to buy rewards because their playtime is limited and they have disposable income.
Anet has to consider both groups so thats why you will usually see rewards for both of them. This update you have Ley weapons for those who want to pay and Ambrite Weapons for those who want to play.
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.

True, on all accounts! But it doesn’t cater to the players who don’t have time to get the weapons they want and who do not want to spend gems- such as the Ambrite ones as an example – and if they don’t want the ley line ones (gem store weapons etc.) then well tough luck, essentially.
I just don’t get why they were made account bound in the first place- the few hours I get on I saw where people in map were getting 2 per chest and then trashing the fossils, I thought ‘what a waste to the ones who will not get them because of whatever silly randomness Anet decided to place them in’
Those players who do not want the weapons were just tossing them away when they could be sold to players like me who don’t have the time to farm and this goes for any weapon like this not just the ambrites.
Yeah, I have one Fossil that I got out of a chest, but since I don’t want an Ambrite weapon (bugs give me the jeebies >.>), there is absolutely nothing I can do with it. It’s account bound, so I can’t trade it. It has no vendor value, so it can’t be sold. Converting it to a specific Fossil? Still account bound. Go through the entire process of crafting an Ambrite weapon? Still account bound.
Ideally I’d like to see either the Fossils OR the Ambrite weapons become sellable. This will depend on what ANet wants to encourage more; the ability for crafters to “profit” by introducing another rare item only they can make and sell, or increased demand for Ambrite/Geodes as players who do want the skins have to spend time in Dry Top farming Geodes and buying Ambrite.
Personally I’d be satisfied with Gantt having a new tab where we can trade Unidentified Fossils for Geodes and/or Ambrite (because then at least the Fossils have value, rather than something I can do nothing with except Destroy), but I think it would be best all around if I can trade them and make somebody with poor RNG luck very happy (and making some extra coin for myself).

Can you please give me 1 valid reason why Anet should cater towards players that dont want to spend either time or money to this game?

They shouldn’t at all, but if I could spare my real money for gems and not rent, catfood, food for myself then you bet I would! If I had an extra 24 hours to do what I want then I would take it and farm the heck out of events but I can’t so I guess that puts me in the gaming category as one of those lazy players.
Honestly this is one of those items that I love- the ambrite weapons, and i am puzzled as to why it’s not sell able is all.

Well, unfortunately, you belong to a player category that is not very valuable to Anet.
Players who spend real money for gems are valuable to them for obvious reasons, players who spend alot of time in game, populate the game world, which is a mayor part of an mmo.
You obviously do neither. You paid the initial purchase fee for GW2 and in exchange got access to nearly all game content. That doesnt change, wether you have an ambrite skin or not.

Yes you’re exactly right, but overall my main point is that they should increase drops to the fossil – everyone should have a chance. Make it 4/5 not 1/100.
