Mini Jack-a-lop price manipulation
Lots of folks have lots of thoughts, but the topic of manipulation has been beaten to death, resurrected, and beaten back down a number of times. Here’s a few threads off the top of my head:

If you want the cliff notes version – there are more people trading on the market than you think there are, and because we only see the bids and asks and not the actual trades, there is no way to know the real price of an item.

Ask yourself who in their right mind would pay that much for a minipet?

Some people with a lot of money can get very bored. They probably think Guild Wars 2 is like PAC MAN; trying to get the Gold high score. It’s normal for people to take more risks when they have more capital.
Changing the price of an item from 100 to 500 doesn’t mean the market will accept it. If it doesn’t; the investor gets a nice hair cut.

As a rich player I don’t mind overpaying stuff when I want it. I don’t mind buying 200 charged lodestones if it costs me 300g instead of 250g.
But a 400g mark-up on something as useless as a minipet (that no one will actually see) is not going to happen.

Not that I disagree, but my Mom always said “there’s a butt for every chair”. Some folks get a lot of enjoyment out of their mini-pets. There’s a thread in the general discussion forum with screen shots to prove it
That’s the only way luxury item markets can work. Someone has to get some intangible value out of the item that the person selling the item doesn’t. Otherwise the seller would just hang on to it.

I’m one of those people who love minipets. But I’d never pay 400g for any of the exotic mini pets off of the TP because of how much better these events minis are.

I’m still kicking myself for not filling one of the two 225g buy orders on Sunday night..

Set it to the week graph.
What happen was the last one was sold at around 200g. The next one that was put up for sale was posted at 500g. Unless they were tracking the previous price the wouldn’t have known what the previous sale price was.

John Smith: Ignore the naysayers – stay Laissez Faire. I’ve been in-world maybe three weeks (newb). I always liked the self-adjusting market in GW1, and I like it here. This is coming from a guy that took two weeks to build up 1.5 gold, so I am not a trader with a self-interest at stake.
Over-manipulation can only lead to more problems than we have now. Hmmm, this sounds familiar.
Wow, kinda sucks for anyone that wanted the minipet not because its rarity, but because well…. bunnies?
No bunny from SAB was kinda a disappointment as well.

BUNNEHS
Anet if you don’t offer up the SAB bunnoh, I am going to seriously break down into tears and ignore my tenancy agreements stance on in-apartment pets.
