If you check gw2spidy, you’ll notice the prices of the set 1 exotic minis went from 80-95g, to 150-230 gold in one day.

I remember buying those minis about a month or two back, and they were 90g, while the supply was between 13 and 20.

I noticed the same thing with Jack-A-Lop. The supply was 28, and it was 160g, while Oakheart had a supply of 15 and it was 90g….

I know there’s plenty of people ‘’playing the TP ’’ as in buy low/sell high, or just buy the whole thing out and make up your own price. But my question is, is Arena okay with this?

Isn’t it stupid that someone who bought an oakheart/wraith/witch/chicken last week, payed 80-95g, and someone who want’s to buy it today has to pay 150-225 gold for each?

You clearly didn’t read the updates. They are discontinuing the Series 1 minis that’s why everybody bought them up either to speculate or to collect.

I bought a Jack-A-Lop at 185g and I know others that did a similar thing because it was hard to get and limited.

Exactly what fishball said. Minis from pack 1 are discontinued people are buying them. They are gone from the gem store oct 15th until special promotions come along.

And it wouldnt be manipulating anyways.

They’ll probably fall when the minis actually ARE discontinued… speculation will end, and since minis never get soulbound owners are gonna be selling them like hotcakes once they notice how high the price has gotten. Then the speculators will be forced to sell too so they don’t lose their shirts.

I think that the blue quality ones may stay kind of high.. just my thinking. You can get them from the forge still after the set is gone, however, blue quality would be very expensive to try for just another blue. I also think that people that had the minis would have already sold them and the ones that are still in banks (outside of speculations) would probably want to keep them. Only time will tell. I think it should be interesting. I personally was too scared to really invest in them but I think that it would have been a safe bet over all.

This again? Maybe John should put a sticky that we can all reference to when we see this sort of thread.

I agree with everyone else that it’s speculation due to discontinue.
I just want to know how you made the thought jump from “prices going up all of a sudden” to “a guild of people and they are manipulating the market”.

There’s a guild of people manipulating the TP? Can I join them? Do they advertise in LA? Do they have guild missions where each person spikes one item? Is their guild name The Tin Foil Hats [TFH]?

People read “pack 1 = discontinued!” and started buying them up, however those mini’s will be in the game still via forging where 90% of rare/exotic mini’s come from which means blues and greens will be coming from the forge a lot still too. They won’t be gone, you will just end up missing the direct 3 mini’s per pack entering the game. I assume the prices will fall again. Depends on supply/demand, they were not doing to well until that announcement so we’ll have to see how many people jump ship and lists them, it’s already happening.

The pack will be discontinued, however the mini’s will be coming from the forge just as much as any other so the mini’s ARE NOT discontinued, hence why the price hike is in my opinion “over priced”.

It’s not going to be discontinued, the mini pack will no longer be on the trading post except under special sales. The mini’s will still be able to be forged from throwing in set 1 and 2 mini’s so the minature’s WILL NOT be discontinued. The source is located on the main page somewhere, I think the tequatl article.

Your post makes no sense at all. Right now, at least 90% of the time you buy a set1 mini pack, you will get 2 blues and 1 green so thats the main supply of blue minis from set 1.

In order to get one blue mini from the mystic forge, you need to put 4 blue minis in, thats 2 packs you have to buy. With the introduction of a second set, your chances of getting a set 1 mini have been cut by 50%.

Once set 1 is discontinued it will actually be harder to get a set 1 blue mini than a set 1 green mini because the greens have a 80% chance to drop from putting in 4 greens and a 20% chance to drop from putting in 4 blues, while you only have a 80% of producing a blue mini by putting in 4 blues.

Also, what is your source that 90% of all rare/exotic minis come from the forge?

If you have to toss four minis into the MF for a chance a Set 1 mini pops out, that’s just saying new supply isn’t going to be zero, just pretty kitten close to it. As long as there are collectors and supply dries up, prices will spike.

As for confirmation about Set 1 being discontinued, check out the Gem Shop, it says there. Unless there is some other way than buying the 3 pack random grab bag of mini (or forging them for other minis) to get them then supply will dry up.

As far as the 90% comment I wasn’t being literal.

Actually from my experience it’s a 1 in 3 chance to get a yellow from a mini pack bud, not 1 in 10 chance, I havn’t confirmed if you can directly get an exotic from the mini pack. Assuming you can’t that means ALL exotic mini’s have been forged, if you do the math with a 20% chance to upgrade it would take. 16 blues to make 1 green, 16 greens, to make 1 yellow, 16 yellows to make 1 exotic. So lets look at it this way.

4096 blue minis = 1 exotic
256 green minis = 1 exotic
16 rare minis = 1 exotic

That is from scratch all the way up the ladder assuming you average out at 20% chance.

with blues at 50s-1g and greens around 1g-2g you can assume no one is going to forge those for exotics so you might see blue mini demand/pricde go up abit. However Masterwork, rare and exotic should remain average because those will be forged very frequent as there is a good chance to make profit at certain times.

Anyways that’s how I see it. Also if blue/greens from Set 1 rise in price too much then all the mini’s from the set 2 mini pack will be forged frequently so prices will find a set price.

Also to note, if another update happens like Mini Holograms, you can expect a mass amount of set 1 and 2 minis to enter the game unless the quality of the mini isn’t blue/masterwork which wouldn’t make sense otherwise.

People act like all the mini’s in the game came directly from the mini packs alone and that is by far false, the only ones I can see going up in price is blue mini’s from set 1, masterwork, rare and exotics should drop in price because of so much forging being done bringing a nice amount of all mini’s in-game. Blues -> Green = no profit even on your first try, Green -> Yellow = a chance people take and Yellow -> Exotic, again, a chance people will take.

At the price blues and greens are now it would take 3-4 gold to throw them in the forge. So unless the blue or green you want is over 4 gold then it is a waste to throw them in the forge and hope you get the one you want.
