Missed the molten alliance pick.
I was about to ask exactly the same thing. Also, if so, would it be released this year?
Highly unlikely they will re-release it.
What I’m confident they will do is release new themed unlimited use picks.
-Frozen ice pick
-Shattered ice pick
-Vine ice pick

Eventually they will but unlikely in the near future.
My prediction is that they will release it shortly after the new expansion (which NCSoft announced some time ago, but no concrete details yet) if it includes new races/professions. This is because lots of people will be creating new characters and will undoubtedly want to equip their characters with unlimited tools.
Of course, they may bring it back “by popular demand” before then.
I’m thinking they’ll re-release it with the re-appearing of the Molten Alliance (not with Flame and Frost and NOT the F&F dungeon), because we never did kill their leaders, we just killed their champions.
Same thing with Aetherblades. We still don’t know who is in charge of Mai (she’s not the head Aetherblade honcho).
Actually there was a recent interview with the lead game designer (don’t remember name) stating that they are not planning an expansion and are instead moving forward with their living world project.
But on topic: These items will probably be rereleased with different content under different names. If they were smart they would cycle these items for each update and not give a break between sales
I missed the chance to buy the consortium sickle and the molten alliance mining pick. I thought about getting the chop-it-all logging axe, but decided against it because I didn’t get the previous gathering tools. The harvesting effect annoys me slightly for being a bit too flashy. I hope they release other tools in the future.
Took a break and I missed it. Almost totally turned me off this game. I was going to pay money for gem for that pick, but I didn’t know Anet start doing these temporary offerings. ridiculous
It’s the McRib approach, they sell good even if they are not all that great. By limiting availability it creates an artificial sense of urgency that a % of the population can’t resist. By making the scycle axe pick limited time items that will likely return people rush to buy them while they can instead of floating the idea for a few months. Another perk is they never have to put a sale on the item because of the time limit demand.

maybe an endless harvesting kit, with all the 3 items, at 2400gems…

This is what I think too
Seeing as they are already bundling up stuff with the coming update.
an endless harvest bundle? sign me up even if it is $30. I’ll admit, I am a sucker for this type of things. Missed the pick and sickle. Got the axe, but not too impressed with the animation. Do hope Anet bring it back.
BRING IT BACK NOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
I hope they bring back another infinite pick, I also missed it. I love being able to gather resources and not have to worry about getting more tools. Sure, it currently costs the equivalent of 25 gold or 10 bux, but it’s nice. Plus, if you gather enough stuff, you’ll break even on the cost. If you’re rich like me though it does not matter.
I’m in the same boat as you, but with the Rox and Braham skins instead. I completely missed out on these because I just recently came back from a long break.
I’d really like a chance to get those skins on my 80’s.
Hmm, I feel kind of ripped-off…
I bought 2800 gems to buy myself the molten alliance mining pick, the axe and the sickle I found on the page “http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gem_Store#Upgrades”. And then I discovered that only the axe is still available…
So, I bought the axe, but how can I get the other two?? Only after reading these and other pages and getting back to above gem store page; i discovered that there is a note saying “Historical items
These items are no longer sold in the store” in relative short lettertype…
How to get to the other two pieces or get my money back?

FYI for future reference the wiki is maintained by the playerbase not ArenaNet. You can’t get the other two. May i recommend a bank tab expansion or a extra character slot. Or you can save it for when/if they decide to do something like it again.
I’m sure we’ll see it again. If not the molten pick in itself, it’ll be the same idea with a different animation as the LS progresses. Might be a couple months though just because they just finished up selling these.
But then again, they may sell them next week. Never know with ANet. ;P
Perhaps the worst aspect of unlimited use items is that they are limited in time. There’s really no reason for it. I really don’t understand why they won’t take my money for a pick for my alts. It’s actually a great win/win item in the store—I don’t understand why it’s not in the store.
I agree, Raine. After all, these items would be a constant means of extracting cash out of new/returning players, and those who balked initially but have changed their minds.
I’d guess that since these three items were tied, animation-wise, to the Living Story episodes and doing the same thing down the road would be questionable, they may just bundle up a three-pack later on that has no special animation and possibly less fancy skins. This way they won’t tick off those who got the originals (which would then remain somewhat special), and will make many others happy while generating cash for ANet at the same time. Looks like a 3x Win to me.
Whatever happens, it should be some months down the road, I’d think.
As it has been said repeatedly on these forums, having an item available for a limit time only is a way to get players off their backside and buy it now, preferably with real money. The longer it’s available, the more time players have to build up their gold supply to use to buy the gems to buy the item. As nice as that is for us it doesn’t do a thing to ANet’s and thus NCSOFT’s bottom line.
RIP City of Heroes
