We all have general ideas on how to fix the TP, and I wanted to cash in my imput.

AS I described in another post, the market is all buyer driven, basically driving prices in some areas down so long that crafters cannot make profits.

Half of this is because those who are looking to buy don’t research ‘market’ value of goods before hand and scoff at the 2g prices they see.

The other half are the taxes. First, the SELLER has to pay a listing fee. I am ALL FOR THIS. This stops people from, as mentioned before, listing things so high that noone would possibly buy and using the TP as a personal bank.

However, its the TAXES levied against the SELLER that causes the problems. If the buyer buys something at a low prices, he is not defaulted by turning around and selling it at a higher price and turning a profit. THIS IS A PROBLEM.

If the taxes are levied against the BUYER, the market becomes a true S&D player driven market, ‘somewhat’ ensuring that the materials/items purchased are then used for personal eschewment, and not a quick turn to make some gold. If the BUYER pays the taxes, and then turns around to sell it, he has not only paid taxes, but now has to pay a listing fee for more than the original seller had to (since he is listing higher). the combination of listing fees and taxes make TP snipping unprofitable, while still allowing players to sell goods and make money.

How would that make it unprofitable to buy an item and resell it?

If anything, that would benefit someone buying low and selling higher, because they would pay the 10% tax on the lower buy price instead of the higher sell price.

More importantly, though, what exactly is the problem you’re trying to fix?

I would certainly stand to gain with this suggestion.

Anyone who buys low and sells high would rather they were taxed on the low amount.

But that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a good idea.
