Over the weekend, TP prices for named exotics (Norgu’s, Jatoro’s, etc) dropped about -70% – half of that change was before event 3 and half after the event 3 chests that flooded the TP.

Nov 15 patch – “The drop rarity of Rare and Exotic weapons from certain places in the world (champions, veterans, and players in WvW) has been increased.” – I’m assuming that refers to all exotics, not just named.

My question is, why did the named exotics drop so much while non-named exotics (Carrion, Clerics, etc) didn’t drop at all? New Dungeon + Ascended ring/back +event 3 reward = lower prices, why only on the named exotics? Was it purely due to the increased world mob drop rate?

People probably realized in a few months all the eoxitcs won’t mean squat so why pay so much extra for something that’s named when it provides no extra benefits besides skins.

@Varn: Far as I know, crafted exotics like the pearl set are not found in the loot table, only crafted. people crafting won’t usually sell for a loss, which places a lower limit to the price of those items.

In contrast, named exotics only drop from the mystic forge and in the loot table, they have no “minimum value”and will sell for as little as the seller allows. With the deluge of exotics from the loot table over the weekend it’s no surprise those markets have slumped hard.

There was a really high chance of getting named exotics from the one time event chest this weekend which included weapons(precursors) and armor. Then it ended up not being one time with people looking/creating new overflows that haven’t finished the event, letting them run the event maybe 5 times that day if they really wanted to.

I feel a little bad for the couple people I know who turned dollars->gems->gold for 20g+ named exotics a month or two ago. Now would be the time to stock up on the named item with special stats for your alts.

Thanks for the responses all – totally overlooked that the other oranges are crafted only and not from loot. Hoping these come back up in price eventually, have an inventory entirely of orange named gear, but at least now I can gear everyone out with almost-free oranges.

I was one of the ones that had their computer crash just before the end of the event and didn’t get any loot
