Neat Idea For Nourishments
:)
So you want Anet to create an item that allows players to automate/bot their buffs?

Yup. Having to constantly check your nourishment times and pulling up inventory is annoying. I came to play the game, not play my buff times.
Simple enough though, right? Wouldn’t affect the economy one bit, or alter anything.
Whats your take on this idea?

In my mind this is a QoL item, just like the copper-fed salvage-o-matic, or the unlimited harvesting tools. I had a thread a long time ago where my original idea was for everlasting nourishment’s, but that would ruin the economy. So then I came up with this idea.

Arenanet hire this man and take my money.

I lol’d. I made a sticky to this thread. I really want this to be introduced.

Yes please. I never bother with nourishments unless something in my mind reminds me to put one on.
I would not buy this. I spend too much time without the need to use nourishments so they would go to waste all the time.

Thats okay. theres people that didnt buy the unlimited salvage kit or unlimited tools too. This is just for the people that would find this useful IE: anyone that does any sort of WvW.

I actually think there was something data-mined some time back about a gem-store item that made the next Nourishment work for 24h instead of its regular time.
Almost something like this, but it might not actually be added, time will tell.

That sounds alright, but this idea is really nice as well. I’d rather have this be implemented.

Ehh, I wouldn’t want it to auto-refresh. Sometimes I’m just running around in the open world (where consumables are usually unnecessary) or just chatting in town. No point in wasting my consumables if that’s the case. But I agree that a quickslot to put food and buff items would be a great QoL improvement.

Well, of course, you don’t need to have any consumables in there. You would have the option to take them out if need be. Otherwise, it would be counter-productive.

Seems reasonable as long as you need to restock the consumable supply in the normal manner (that is to say, craft or buy them as you usually would). Anet has established that pure convenience items that don’t actually confer an advantage are good options for the gem store. The only issue I can see is if a significant number of these types of items eventually became available it may begin to cause some ill will between those who would like the feature but not enough to pay the going rate for it and those who have purchased it. I think we’re a long way from that being a concern right now though.

Yup! you would need to re-stock from the trading post or craft it again when the allotted amount is empty.

Taking them out when they’re unneeded would just put me back into the same situation as going into my inventory and clicking on the items I want to use though.
Maybe a toggle on the quickslots that switches on “Auto-consume”?

That would actually be perfect!!!

Does anyone see any way it could give a realistic advantage to some one using it?

why don’t nourishments just stack duration? so if you know you’re gonna use like 3 hours of it you can just use the same 1hr food 3 times :X
I like it, but I will just point out this will destroy the 1-hour food buff market, which are far more expensive to craft than their half hour or even 20 minute equivalents.

Well theres the thing, the supply and demand will most likely equal theirselves out. Demand goes down, supply goes up, so prices should initially go down and then slowly rise back up and level off. To say the 1hour food buff market would be completely destroyed is not entirely true.

Food is a crutch. You should feel bad you are using it.

to be completely honest, that really doesnt make any sense. thats like saying stats are a crutch and that i should run around armorless and rune-less. traitless too. i use food because other people use food and i want to be on a fair gaming ground with them. so no, i dont feel bad for utilizing stats everyone else uses too.
:)
as a chef i completely agree to this idea! this would make me perhaps a couple of % more overall, and its QoL so that’s always nice to have.
they would have to add something too it though. you don’t eat unless you are/have been in combat for x minutes. otherwise id be eating my lotus fries while merching, which is pointless! also, perhaps a slot for boosters? i know its just a formality cause not many people use them all the time, but it would not hurt
