No 3rd party programs allowed in game, except for communication like mumble, etc.

The GW1 system had too many problems and too many scam artists taking people’s money – no thank you.

Moon misundersood. OP was suggesting a 1st party program – one that was run by Anet to be a TP-proxy while the TP is non-functional. which seems like a bad idea. it would basically be a backup TP for when the TP isn’t working – so developers would have to spend half their time making a 2nd TP instead of all their time making the TP that works work without breaking. I would rather one TP that works 99% of the time than two TPs that each work 50% of the time.

Since launch (which was indeed horrible for the TP), the Trading Post has been rarely down except for scheduled maintenance. I can’t actually remember the last time I was inconvenienced by an outage…and I buy/sell 100s of items every day.

Accordingly, I think the best way for ANet to deal with TP outages is to make sure they happen as rarely as possible, not to invest in something to fill the gap during downtime.
