It’s like a name brand versus generic brand.

The others are generic, thus cheaper and the main one is a name brand, thus more expensive.

I really wish they’d squash the separation between regular armor and town clothes. I can see some possibilities for some of this stuff that would look pretty sweet if I could mix and match with my battle gear.

I like the hoodies but I don’t like the pants and there’s nothing else I could use to match them. ;x Need maor clothing, and skirtless medium armor skins.
No costume maker npcs to store stuff either.

Wonder if the riding clothes are some possible indicator of more mounts coming to the game.

Well, accroding to a recent developer reply it has something to do with a more complex skin. But to be honest, I don’t care much. They look awesome.

First thing I noticed.

If they didn’t pop off every time I stumbled, in town, I MIGHT consider them…

I bought almost every shop skin in GW1, yet none at all in GW2.

In GW1, I could kill Charr in my dress. In this game, I cannot.

Can we PLEASE have hoodies with sleeves ! It seems kind of weird wearing hoodies without them !

I like the hoodies, but I’m pretty disappointed that they’re useless town clothes. I have seriously never even seen someone wearing town clothes. Only time was when a few people had the mad king/phantom stuff during halloween, and even then it was just for the costume brawls.
They need to make them work like in GW1, where you can use them anywhere except in PvP. I personally wouldn’t even care if they worked there, but I know others would.

I’m not a complicated person… I’ll pay gems to buy clothes ( for my charr ) when they make what the NPCs are wearing in Black Citadel available.

I am actually surprised that one couldn’t get the NPC’s clothes as town clothes. I thought my Mesmer would be strolling around in human noble clothes while in town but nope… and now we get more things that aren’t that.

And to give people a bigger incentive to use town clothes: there should be a place in options where one can decide if one wants to automatically change to town clothes upon entering a town and if one switched to gear upon taking damage.

It would also be awesome if one could use utility skills in town clothes, I wouldn’t mind if one could use weapons as well but I’d be god with utility skills.

This is my opinion also I see no point to them I spend most of my time out in the world. If I was able to use the town clothing out there I probably would be spending more money into this game, so far since paying for the game before head start I have spent 0 dollars, Its too bad because the hoodies would look good as med. armor for a Charr.

I can’t recall seeing anyone in the town clothes in my 1000+ hours of gameplay. A dancing naked norn with bunny ears and boxing gloves yes, but no town clothes.

I couldn’t even tell you if someone was wearing town clothes, whether they were the original ones or ones they bought off the gem store. Until they work like GW1 costumes I find them worthless.

I’m still trying to understand the logic in relation to Anet’s Gem Store item releases.

As I see it:
They want our money, we want to give it to them.
They throw unrequested and bugged town clothes at us, we keep our money.
1,000’s of players begging for some armor skins, and we get backpacks.

I understand many people have bought town clothes, but those who bought head items can’t even see the item that they bought due to a bug that is as yet unfixed and has gone unfixed for months…notice there was no head item released with these new town clothes, that’s because the head items are still bugged. :\

Though don’t get me wrong, I like my Tiger Charr backpack, but I didn’t even buy gems for mine since the Tiger Charr backpacks are on the TP for 6 gold since they are a rare drop from Black Lion Chests…while the really, really plain brown Charr backpacks are Gem Store only and cost much more than that. That should have been reversed. You want our money, put the good stuff on the Gem Store so we will buy gems with cash to get the stuff we actually want.

It actually seems to me that Anet doesn’t want our money and instead intentionally goes out of their way to not offer what 1,000’s are requesting and would pay for, and instead spends time creating and adding in things that nobody has asked for and very few seem to be buying. Their behavior just does not make sense to me from a business standpoint. Having no monthly charge to play, I would think they’d be putting priority on offering goods that are highly requested as to keep generating income, while also putting priority on fixing the main bugs that are affecting people on a daily basis. I really feel Anet needs to sit down with itself and have a heart-to-heart, think about what it’s done, where it is going, where it should be going and what it needs to do to get there…for all our sake, as I want GW2 to be around longer and be greater than GW1 in all aspects. Also…I miss actual “Guild Wars” in Guild Wars. I don’t know who decided to scrap the foundation for the title of the game, but I don’t think it was that great of an idea, though that might just be me and my opinion. Anyway, thank you for the fun times playing so far Anet, I look forward to another couple thousand hours.

I’m actually a bit surprised that people feel so offended that they can’t wear town clothes in combat. I think it’s great that you can’t. I guess the feeling comes from a lot of people who played GW1 where it was allowed, but there’s enough ways to enhance and personalize your own combat appearance with armor and dyes without throwing costumes as skins. I do agree that it sucks that if you fall or something you get knocked out of your town clothes. But I love running around in costumes and outfits, and I don’t mind shelling out money here and there on a game that is sub free to support it. Also, there’s other things I would love to see them spending their time working on that this is a complete non issue to me.
