New outfits?
How about some new outfits in the gem store Anet? At present there’s only the Pirate Captain’s outfit and the apparently never used Cook’s Outfit. (I sure aint seen anyone wearing it)
There’s also the ancestral and shadow assassin! But recent data mined info on reddit is alluding to a new outfit which looks quite lovely.

And all who stood by and did nothing, who are they to criticize the sacrifices of others?
Our blood has bought their lives.
I use Cooks on my Norn and Sylvari, because it looks good on them, very nicely culturally designed. Though now that I can’t hide the big club hand on the sylvari, it’s less in vogue for me than when I could mix and match. You may have seen it on those races without knowing, because it’s much fancier for them than humans.
I used part of Cook’s on my street rat warrior before the town clothes nerf, as well. Now it’s too fugly for me to bother with on a human.
Those new outfits do intrigue me, however. I hope they don’t go the way of the datamined Scholars and Blacksmith’s that we never got.

Most armors look boring, except for light armor. Cooking/Assassin/ancestral/Pirate outfit all look good, and take the boredom out of medium armor. What’s more, if you got an expensive runeset in armor, it means you are bound to that armor. You can put a skin on it, but then that skin sticks unless you want to waste transmutation charges. I can change on the fly my armor look by changing outfit, me likes. And the 4 dye slots are enough for decent combinations. Got a very nice dye on my ranger’s assassins outfit now, it’s lovely, so why complaint? They bring something new/good, outfits, so I’d say, let more come.
No excuse anymore for not giving ‘hide mounts’-option
No thanks to unidentified weapons.

Outfits suck because you can’t mix and match, meaning you’ll end up looking like everyone else.. Atleast with armor skins you can choose which pieces you want to use.

The cooks outfit actually looks great on an asura if you take the hat off. it looks like a lab coat if you dye it white, or really any color. I use it pretty often. Though, I still love my Wintersday outfit on them too.

^^ Best thing about them is I get variety on characters for free, especially new characters I’m leveling up. No need to mix/match armor and all that, or use trans charges.
I love my norn mesmer’s look, but sometimes I think he looks kitten in the Witches outfit. My Thief runs around in her Pirate outfit more than her trenchcoat. My Guard Asura pretty much lives in outfits because I’m not a huge fan of the plate options for asura.
Now… if I could add my own custom head piece to them, then they’d be even better, but /shrug they’re still awesome as is. Just really wish I could do Wintersday + Tophat, or Cooks + Monocle for my Asura.
I don’t want outfits, give me armor skins any day. Complete sets, that is, not this 300-500 gems a piece BS.
Why do some ppl find mix and matching so important… I get it, it’s cool. But what you forget is the HUGE amount of armor (not outfit) skins going around already. Secondly, the advantage of one complete set, is that Anet can go all the way, and prevent bugs in early stages. Like how can you prevent a leg piece, not to bug with a chest piece now? 100’s of chest skins have to be compared to 100’s of leg pieces. Not very practical. What’s more, Coat + leggings make the full armor for me. The rest is really bonus. Only shoulders/gloves/boots skins like the Toxic skin, really make a difference, otherwise they are more or less the same and not so important on the complete set. As I always turn of Maks they neither are important, I don’t roleplay a necromancer, so no ugly mask needed on my char.
The outfits, ‘fit together’ as one armor, piece by piece, (no screen clutter), and i love that. Have you seen a well dye’d assassins outfit on a Norn? It’s beautiful made with lots of detail.
The convenience of outfits is they are account skin unlocks that can be equipped/unequipped at any possible time without overwriting the normal armor skin. That alone is a big feature. So deal with it. Not your thing? Don’t buy them, there’s enough true armor skins for the outfit haters out there. Another huge advantage of outfits, if that you can make a heavy armor profession look ‘light armor’, and vice versa. For some reason I love light armor the most, and certain medium armor sets, and with outfits like ancestral, pirate, assassin’s, i can Equip such skin on the fly, on any of my 14 characters, wich is a great feature. If you can’t see the value of that, then move on. And only 4 dye slots is disadvantage? oh please. I tried ‘super mix and match dying’ my armors, wich all different dye’s on all different armors, and it barely makes a diff, unless you mix like hell, and then it looks like hell. If you experiment enough with the 4 dye slots on oufits, I assure you, you can get great results.
I think the problem is some people want everything, but don’t realize yet, that isn’t possible. Outfits aren’t perfect, but I for one love em.
