During the October 8 Gemstore update, a new unlimited harvesting sickle (Jack-in-the-box Scythe) and Hallows Fortune fireworks was added to the gemstore.

Jack-in-the-box Scythe – 800 gems

Hallows Fortune Fireworks – 200 each or 5 for 800 gems

• Four different colored fireworks with 10 charges each and a Hallows Finale firework with only one charge.

That Jack-in-the-box Scythe is AWESOME!

Buuut I’m still gonna stick with my Consortium scythe. Having that creepy dude pop up every time I harvest plants would get old real fast, I think. (You could probably freak out players with it though.)

should be accountwide than i would even pay 1200-2000 gems for it, but so not.

That scythe… I’d be embarrassed to harvest with it :P I’d like the fireworks if they were infinite (800 gems or what not).

Having recently joined the GW2 community in the last month I was really looking forward to more permanent gathering tools coming out (as I missed the first set)… I don’t want to use this! It would get ridiculously old extremely fast. I’m not spending money on this! Just horrible!

feel like the animation takes far too long…a quick creepy jack in the box dude coming out would be fine, but this is too long. Was considering getting it, but the video has made me reconsider.

Jack in the Box looks awesome, IMO.

My only question is whether you actually have to stand there for the entire animation, or if you can run away after the initial slice.

I am probably going to buy it. However I have the same concern. How long does it take. The animation make it seem slow. One of the great things about the southsun one is it’s quickness. Animation Is ok on it, but the speed is what I love.

IF it was account-wide – I’d be all over it! Heck – I’d have purchased all the permanent gathering items – however unfortunately (for Anet) I’m just not willing to drop nearly 17K gems to have them (Who I gather on – on a particular day is random)

I WOULD be willing to drop 4800 gems on permanent items if they could be shared across my account!

This makes me really wish I hadn’t missed the trip in the anniversary sale

hey! creepy clown harvester might be a good long term item. IF it is never offered again. A year or two from now there will be a whole raft of players with no knowledge of it and you could seriously weird them out.

This would be an instant buy with cash from me if I could swap my consortium scythe to an alt while I use it. Now I just get to have conflict with myself on buying it.. at the moment the no do not buy it argument is winning since I cannot justify having the old one sit unused in my bank.

Regarding the speed, it actually seems to be as fast as the Consortium sickle in harvesting. The node is harvested at about the same time when the clown pops up. His little manic cackle afterwards is just the after-animation.

Does that mean you can walk away after the slash and aren’t forced to stand there waiting for the full animation?

Ugh… I really wanted a new set of unlimited tools for a new character and the fact this is already on the TP make me think a new logging axe is going to be for sale this month (which would be great) but the clown… oh god the clown 0w0.

Anyways, I will probably get it but why the sickles must have a completely new animation while the pick/axe just have some added effects???

And just a suggestion: Remove the laugh. After a few uses, it will not only get old, it will be really annoying.

Yes. This sickle operates as quickly as the previous or, which is why I bought it. I can harvest when a monster is coming after me and be done before he strikes

Would be nice to have that benefit on the other tools….

Over the course of playing(forever) I could see that an unlimited gathering tool would save you coin after a certain point. Someone has done the match somewhere on how many gathers you would have to do in order to break even on the gold → gem conversion. I just don’t have the g to blow 40-50 (I believe its between there) on it atm. Otherwise I would totally get the clown.

I don’t have alts so the soulbound thing has no hold on me. I do see the allure of making it account bound, but there are many that do get these across multiple characters so I don’t blame them for trying to make some cash.
