Q:
Non account bound/ offline purchase of Gems
haha… trying to spend money on things the wife doesnt approve of?
tsk tsk tsk
I think the real problem here is why are you hiding important financial information from your wife? If your wife is anything like me hiding it is going to make it a whole lot worse. I’d rather my husband say “I’m going to spend X on Y even if you don’t agree” then to just hide it. This may be out of line (and if it is feel free to tell me off), but does this kind of thing come up a lot? My husband and I had some issues with spending money we didn’t always have when we first got married. We didn’t talk to each other about purchases lead to us spending way too much money. So now we both have our own accounts (and one joint account for bills) that we each put $50 bucks in a month. This is our “fun money” to do as we wish and no harassment from the other. We can save it up or blow it all in a week. When it’s gone it’s gone and we have to wait until the next month. It works well and that means I can buy stupid amounts of character slots without him bugging me about it.

Buy your wife a copy, and you’re set!
It could just be that the CC company tends to call about online purchases like mine does and he doesn’t want to bother the wife. There’s always that possibility anyway…
That said, I agree; gem cards at retailers would be nice for the student who handles their finances in cash, or other people who don’t have easy access to credit.
Suggestion from a teen without a credit card:
Compile a list of what thinks you want over a period of x days/weeks/months. At the end of this period tally up the amount of necessary gems, convert to dollar amount and then go get a Visa or whatever gift card from your nearest CVS/Walgreens/etc. Register your Zip code online in 15 seconds and then have your gems and use them too.
Pros: No risk of credit card info getting stolen, forces you to actually evaluate your purchases, and lets you consider the actual dollar value of everything you buy, also removes the sense of instant gratification from the spending of money.
Cons: You have to wait til the end of your time period, and you spend an extra few dollars on the cards purchase fee.

solution: get a Paypal
I really like how peeps post things like the responses above. In no way are they useful.
I don’t have or want any credit cards so I can pay a gouged % in order to buy things online. If you don’t have a CC how are you filling your PayPal account? Sending them checks? lol…
Cash Shop cards are highly regarded, useful and cut out a lot of issues especially for younger gamers. Has nothing to do with Wife, Parents, whatever. It’s called convenience.
Credit Cards require a hefty premium just to have them. Not everyone wants to pay a premium when it isn’t necessary. Most online game companies have these cards on the market, at WalMart, Target, GameStop, etc.
Get with the times and stop harassing legitimate requests.
