Offline trading
I am rather sure they never announced plans like that (they did have plans for a mobile application of some sorts but don’t think they ever specified what it would include) but the plans for the mobile application is most likely on ice for now.
Offline (with the true meaning of the word) would never work for this btw, since you need to connect to the servers in order to do the stuff listed ^^

Technically yes, but I was referring to the ability to trade while not in game, for example while you are at work or whatever.
It is also mentioned on the guildwars2 wiki site.

The TP does use browser based technology, so it was probably planned from the very beginning. It wouldn’t be too difficult to merge an App or website login with the ability to make trades. One thing that Anet will need to look at very carefully is the security of such an option. If a hacker found a backdoor to mess with the trades, the economy would break.
I would love to see some TP feature from the work, but also i am pretty sure that few person would find a way to crash the market (just for fun) and that would result a lot of headache for the ANET guys.
Desolation – [TEU]
I can’t wait for the app that lets me grind Orr events, Fractals or WvW while I am offline.
Kidding aside…I think this would anger a lot of players who already feel that TP players already have a huge advantage money making wise then the rest of the population who don’t know how or do not want to play the market.
This is only one step away from TP botting, which some(not me) say is already in the game.
I for one hope this app never sees the light of day.

I would like the ability to at least browse listings from outside of game. I’m fine with requiring being in game to actually trade.
Doesn’t http://www.gw2spidy.com/ already show updated prices for items on the TP?
Currently, you can browse, place bids and buy while outside of the game, using 3rd party tools. To actually pickup or sell items however, you need access to your character, so it must be done in-game. Using a small program to basically remote desktop into your inventory, you could fully play the TP from any location, but the game would have to be running on your main computer.
And yes, people do fully bot the TP to automatically buy and sell items.
I guess you refer to Teamviewer, remote control the home desktop with its game client from work/study/whatever.
Which 3rd party tool allows you to place bids without the game client?
I don’t want to bot or anything like it. But i’d love to play the the TP during my frequent breaks at work, where I cannot use my personal laptop or install the game client on the computers in the break area.

Ill like to see this anytime soon!!! Source http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/17832-gw2-frequently-asked-questions-read-before-posting/page__hl__%2Boffline+%2Btool
Can you give me more information about the trading post?
The trading post is global, meaning you can trade with players on different servers. It can be used to sell and buy items without the need to find a buyer or seller first. Access to the the trading post is located in your UI, so you can buy stuff and sell stuff from anywhere. You need to talk to a trader in a town to collect your money or items from trades. While items can only be put up for sale when in-game, it is possible to browse, bid, or cancel auctions and offers when out of-game and logged into a web browser. A sale can be completed whilst the seller is offline, with the coin going into an account bank.
The marketplace is capable of displaying the history and trends of item values.
Doesn’t http://www.gw2spidy.com/ already show updated prices for items on the TP?
No, but gw2tp now shows ALL bids and listings for every item, so you can check there, if you want to see more than the ~20 highest/lowest bids/listings that are shown in game.

At or before game launch ArenaNet announced plans for offline trading, bidding, sellling, purchasing, and cancel bids using the trade port outside of the game itself. What happened to these plans?
ANet decided to prioritize other features. If you recall, that idea was a specific component of the general concept of the “Guild Wars Extended Experience” that might include out-of-game chat, among other features. All of that was since replaced by offering the GW2 API, which allows 3rd party devs (and fans) the ability to create their own apps, which have improved the data quality of sites like Dulfy, spidy, gw2tp, etc.
Currently, the latest version of their API doesn’t enable (or require) secure logon. But they have suggested that they’d like to set that up at some point. Once they do, then anyone will be able to create an app that can manage offline trading.
IMO, the overall situation is better: ANet can focus on updating the game and fans get full control over what apps they want from the API, without ANet having to be responsible for the coding/QA/release of those apps. Since we fans are fickle in our desires in the best of situations, it’s better for us if we don’t have to wait for ANet.
As the tp has very often been unreliable, no more so than this new tp, which crashes my game everyday, I would like to be able to use the thing without having the game open. If they could make a tp that works for everyone reliably, not just the majority but all players everyday then such a feature is less important…

I recommend that you create a support ticket — it’s not normal for the game to crash while using the TP and especially not since they changed the software that is used to render it. The TP does, in fact, work reliably for nearly all players every day.
Of course I have created tickets, have sent several even though I’ve actually had better assistance from the community than any Anet staff sadly, no it crashed many players in the first few days of the new tp actually, that was why there were 3 hot fixes, it has become less stable for me since those hot fixes in fact, one the first day of use it worked well and fast, though the new UI sucks.
Anet are aware there are problems for some unlucky people but have been very quiet about that and any way to fix it, agreed something is wrong to crash the game.
The old tp never crashed my game no matter how bad it could be in failing to load.
