If you are not just being sarcastic, but seriously consider that out of many hundreds of thousands of players you might be (or become) one of the top 200 people to use those picks, then it may actually be a good idea to refrain from doing that and do something fun instead (like playing the game instead of farming for hours).

Champ Karka won’t move from the Ori node. It will stay but once agro is broken it will return to the node. Stockup on kits before those get nerfed also.

…Because my Norns of all classes stroll past the Champion Karka in cat-form. Stealth is part of the game. It will remain part of the game. Same as the Human Fire Puppies elite skill is better than all other elites skills, except in this one particular instance .

I did not tell him what to consider fun. My post included that it is not fun as an assumption based on common sense. If you think otherwise, your probably have no idea how obsessive some players are and to what extent he would need to be farming to rise up into the top 200 of the whole userbase. If you want to argue that obsessive behaviour equals fun for those affected, you should learn a bit about psychology.

It’s actually the dungeon runners who make less and are completely oblivious to large sum of gold they can make through gathering.
If you’re going to turn the game into a job to make gold, do it properly.

The “poorer players” being able to park their lower lvl alts at the karka, spreads wealth to the poorer players more than not being able to. I’m one of those players that doesn’t grind dungeons or farm, I currently have 15g, and my income would def take a hit if the picks were changed. Gold sellers fall under “people that like farming” they’re not the ones harvesting the ori, they’re killing sharks.

I just don’t think any gold sellers do this. There are more profitable and more easily automated ways for them to bot. They can’t easily automate creating a new character and running it through the intro and then get it to a bank and equip it with picks bought with karma they had to farm with a diff char on that same account and then get them past the karka to mine it. All just for 15 Ori, aprox. 30s. There’s no way bots are doing this when they can automate farming sharks or whatever and make a lot more in the same time.
I wasn’t really sure that this was a problem until I sat at the rich ori mine and noticed several lv 2 characters mining the nod with no problem. I don’t that that this is something should really be allowed. There should be some sort of level restriction on nods so countless alts aren’t created and safely ran to mine ori. There must be some level commitment to a character to a character before it can make you that kind of money. If normal picks have a lv 60 requirement, make that apply to all mining tools please.

You would have to mine a LOT of ori to make up for the gold cost of a character slot.
Currently it costs 656 orichalcum ore for a character slot. Considering the rich orichalcum averages a production of 15 orichalcum ore per run (+ some random orbs, but were not going to bother with that because :effort:, and i’m also discounting the cost of the pick here too (also see :effort:)).
It would take 44 days of farming for a single character to return its investement.
in this time period ori can continue to drop in price or the devs might fix the unintended behaviour.
This does not take into account the effort it takes to get a level 2 to that node, and kite the champion karka away from it so you dont die on it.
Hmm. And the characters would actually level up, albeit slowly. XP from the harvesting and the first few whacks on the node per day will also trigger the daily achievement.
I think I’ll just stick with dropping by occasionally with my level 80s that have stealth. I don’t buy or sell oricalcum anyway – the effort to amass oricalcum is so utterly insignificant compare to the slog that is grinding charged lodestones that I could start gathering the 1500 ore required for Infinite Light about the time I had 225 out of 250 lodestones and I’d STILL be done with the oricalcum first…

Ofc this is not a exploit you have the black lion tools that also dont requires LvL and that can be use to mining and chop the “t6” Trees and veins same goes for the harvest
mmm people are amazing. On one thread they complain about things being too expensive and then in another thread they’ll complain about the price of items falling. I guess it’s only bad if it is inconvenient for them.

Ori dropped from the rich node being introduced, but it is largely because of normal use, not people who farm it. Before this node was there you could get about 25-30 ori a day per character and it took about 30-45 minutes and the use of 4-5 WP’s. Now with a single node you can get 18 ori using 1 WP and 5 minutes. It is faster, cheaper, and easier to get ori now then it ever was before, so the price dropped.
Just wait until Monday, I suspect Ori will drop a full silver on Monday. With the introduction of guesting to 2 different servers every 24 hours, you can now take those parked alts and have each one produce 3x as much ori as before, in addition to the 3x as much ori normal characters will be able to get.
Except you can’t. I attempted to do this before I server transferred. I mined ori on my previous server, then after transfer, all the nodes on the new home server were already mined out. So based on this information, I’ll go ahead and make the assumption that guesting will have 0 effect on the supply.
Did you ever think that maybe if there was a problem with ori being above the value anet wanted it to dropping in that perma node would be a control mechanism not an exploit? Just saying
Yet the cost of making vision of the mist is what? 250 Orichalcum Blades! That’s 750 ingots. Sorry the cost of making some of these weapons are just ludicous at the moment. Who’s to say that the future ascended gear won’t use orichalcum causing a massive shortage.

I’m not sure it was actually endorsed by John… he did say he didn’t see it as an exploit, (and he joked about buying extra character slots in order to maximise gains) but that doesn’t mean that this wasn’t a loophole or that ArenaNet weren’t going to introduce a fix.
You know, I figured he was up to something when he posted that comment about buying more char slots. I was pretty close to buying up a ton of oric… that seems to be the best description for my tp activities… pretty close. Like how I came close to quadrupling my gold by buying princess wands or platinum doubloons… but failing by only investing 50g or so. Then getting greedy and investing everything in something else and watching it tank >.>

Well, we didn’t all get banned for it so that’s progress at least.
When something gets nerfed it (usually) means that the gameplay was legit (i.e. not exploited), however, due to its popularity it may result in negatively affecting the TP/economy.
Hence, why no-one got banned anmd instead it got nerfed.
Demand did not change, but supply did go down severely. Check Spidy.
Many ppl had 4-6 toons parked looting this node every day. It is not worth the time running through all the maps on 6 toons to get the same amount of ori as before was possible in 2 minutes of logging in and out.
Supply will be decreased over time by at least 50% if not even 80%. Not today, not tomorrow, but in the next couple of weekends, when the buffer from 2 months of farmin’ rich node on 6 toons a day is gone.
Ppl are more wealthy, way more wealthy then in november or october and every day more ppl are thinking about getting a named exo weapon or a legendary. several legendaries need 1000 ori. even more named exos need 1500 ori. playerbase with several exotic geared toons is huge and people will get back to getting 5 ori a day instead of 120 as before.
As said before, ppl are wealthier now and spending 60g for 1k ori isnt an issue anymore.

downstream mats, made from ori are also still supplied enough. as soon as the supplie also will diminish here, ori will rise even more. why? because ppl have the money and dont want to walk through half of tyria for 5 hours for the same amount of ori as before the patch in 2 minutes.
Also there are less bots than before the karka event. it is impossible to get to the same supplylevel as before karka event. the demand somehow will stil be the same if not bigger with new ascended gear incoming that will need tons of ori for upgrading in mystic forge.

Anything I post is just the opinion of a very vocal minority of 1.
Even with the node going from rich to a regular vein, 4 of my characters will still farm it daily.
Why? Because when I play, I usually only have 2-3 hours and prefer to play it in WvW. I can quickly log on to all 4 characters, mine the node, and choose one of my 5 characters to WvW with. Quick and easy money, in addition to what I get from WvW.
