Have not seen a thread to bring the original back, if there is, then merge or delete this one.

Never did buy the original due to being taken off the Gem Store before I could purchase it. Though, looking at the new skin on my norn ele/mesmer/necro, I can safely say the original was far better in terms of aesthetics. Please bring the original back.

The original flamekissed armor was the best looking set out there they just remade it into feathered armor with flames

The problem is the Human T3 Cultural Armor contingent that got the armor pulled for being no longer unique and cheaper are still there, so why to heck would ANet, after going all through the revamp and now refunding, bring it back?

Petition are also against forum rules.

well when I buy the armor skins off the TP, I actually spend the money on the gems to grab it.
I thought thats what those armors are there for. Providing an aesthetic that makes people buy it which in turn creates money for ANet.
Anyone who has enough gold to convert to gems will most likely be able to afford any armor skin in the game.
The only complaint that I see is it is too similar to a cultural armor.
My thought on that is why does is bother those people? It doesn’t hurt them in any way so why should they even care?
Who cares about uniqueness? It is about choosing the armor that best suits YOUR character. And the first armor was just flame-ey enough for my norn ele.

Really? So it was ok for players to spend 60g on this flame armor and can be used on anyone. Where T3 Humans paid 119g and can only use it on humans. Nothing is wrong with that?

And lots of players care about uniqueness. There might not be many out there who are unique, but that doesn’t mean they don’t want to be.

Since gold value plummeted and gems is rising i think its you don t have a point.
The worst and unfairest thing was btw removing the one players had….

Players buying wasn t responsible of anything…….and they were the only damaged….
Most of them won t contact support due to the unclear way the refund is handled.

A refund is a refund. I understand that there currently seems to be a great deal of variation but you should expect to delete the armor and get your 800 gems back. If you get more than that, then bonus to you.

the granted refund is minimal
(even if most players get fair refunds the risk is still there..)

i Would have refund the T3 owners complainig……obviously only the armor cost without trasmutations stones.

You would understand where the problem is at that point.

Some people are out a significant amount of gold beyond the cost of the armor itself. Those people should expect to be fully compensated for what this cost them. If they get less, they should be dissatisfied and continue to seek satisfaction.

You bought the skin with gems, so you get back gems. Doesn’t matter if you spent gold or cash for those gems. That’s the reason they (and other MMOs) have a proxy currency, so they don’t have to get involved with reimbursing cash for every little thing.

Hey, in my opinion old flamekissed light set “the fiery human t3” was the best light armor ever developed and upgrading it’s look for a new one is my biggest pain at the moment on my mesmer. If you guys think it was unfair comparing to ppl which bought normal t3 for a higher price just place “fiery t3” for a higher price and the problem will be solved in my opinion. So I dont want to get a refund for my actually upgraded flamekissed and I’m still hoping that they will bring back the “cool one”

I think the most upsetting thing about this “revamp” is that the old “fiery t3” armor" gave other races the ability to use the T3 human cultural set. My asuran looked amazing with it, and now that it’s been changed to an armor that looks hands down ugly on him, I feel a bit disappointed.

^ That. Price of armor is an issue yes but the most important reason is something human-exclusive could be utilized by all. The old flamekissed version must not return or remove race requirements from all armors if it does

This isn’t the result of a tug-of-war on the forums:

“I don’t like this! Change the armor skin from cultural to something else!”

“Ok, will do.”

“I don’t like this! Change the armor skin back to cultural!”

“Ok, will do.”

etc.

Protests on the forums have nothing to do with these decisions. Projects like this are overseen by management and someone has to approve everything before it goes into the game.

So far as anyone outside the company can tell, what happened was someone on Anet staff got lazy and just picked a good looking armor skin to use for the new armor. Whoever was overseeing the project didn’t realize this armor was locked to a specific race and approved the new version for the game. When they realized what happened, the only response possible was to remove the skin from the game and reintroduce it with a new or recycled generic appearance.

Because the other skins were generics recycled, and probably because of the time involved in developing new skins from scratch, we got what we got. Moan and whine about it all you want, this is what it is and it’s not going to change just because you don’t want this armor.

It was an Anet mistake, so they did the right thing by refunding the cost of the armor if you aren’t satisfied with the changes. But the reason for the changes is not customer dissatisfaction, it’s because that particular armor skin should never have been used in the first place. They cannot reverse their reversal and put it back out there.

No, they will not come out with the old flamekissed skin.

That defeats the whole purpose of the skin revamp. People who annoyed that it used a T3 mesh and allowed other races to use a mesh that was supposed to be exclusive to one race.

Here’s how you get the old skin in a few simple steps.

Step 1: Make a female human
Step 2: Level to 80
Step 3: Buy Tier 3 Cultural armor

Why would I reroll a character I already have at 80 that is fully geared?

Sorry mate. Anet made a big mistake, and listened to us who were angered by our exclusive armor being given to other races. We’re very thankful that Anet delivered on their promise to undo the mistake, and make an even better Flame armor set.

Make a new female human character, level to 80, and buy the cultural armor. Any petition to try and bring back a mistake, is like screaming in a sound proof room.

Its unfair to compare the T3 lightkissed with feathered, because the other 2 gemstore armors were common armors found within the game, while flamekissed was expensive made-to-look-nice-as-nice-as-possible cultural armor for humans.

I prefer it this way, because now all 3 gemstore armors are made out of common armors. Having flamekissed being the only cultural in the mix felt really wrong and out of place.

Here is my take on it. First I got a refund on my purchased armor. I originally bought the armor skin, when A net changed the skin they breached the contract by changing the original armor I bought. It would be the same as you buying a cheeseburger sitting down to eat it and they swap the burger with a peanut butter and jelly. If people don’t like the armor, don’t buy it. That simple. If it resembled something else in the game, who cares! There are plenty of other items that do the same. No one complained during the queens jubalee when anyone could buy all the cultural weapons. What Anet should have done was give everyone who purchased the original flame kissed armor an option to swap it out if they wanted to, not change everyone’s armor to please a few.

Not in any particular order.

Any race can buy any race’s cultural weapons. My human uses Sylvari weapons, bought in The Grove. Only armors are race bound. The players who cared are the ones that spent over 100g to get that “unique” armor, available only to their race.

When they announced that they made a mistake basing an armor on a race unique armor they announced the rebate program once the replacement armor came out for those who were dissatisfied with the new set.

Only misstep from my POV, but I know why they did it, was to allow those who purchased it to keep it and grow attached to it in the intervening months. First if already skinned onto existing armor they would have to wholesale replace it with the underlying armor which in some cases would have been skinned once already, much more difficult than simply altering the applied skin. Second it would mean they would have had to rebate all those gems months ago. Not sure how that impacts their accounting and might have led to another drop in the exchange rate. Logic being the higher the exchange rate, the greater the likelihood that the player will spend cash for gems.

Don’t forget that the flame treatment also makes the T3 look kinda like the drab step-sister armor….

If you liked the original Flamekissed skin, then I have the solution.

Create a human character, level that character to 60-80, save up 119g, acquire exotic/ascended armor pieces, spend real money/spend gold on the 6 transmutation crystals, transmute everything together complete with whatever runes you had on the set.

So to buy norn armor, you had to be a “Slayer of Wurms” with 26,000 reputation points, earned by killing things, vanquishing entire zones, fighting norns at resurrection shrines, fighting in the tournament in Gunnar’s Hold, etc.

People complained that these titles were a grind, so they were never passed on to GW2. Now, ArenaNet has repetitively reinforced the boundaries between the races and what cultural armor they can wear. They even rolled back servers when people used cultural armor on the races they weren’t supposed to be worn on.

I wouldn’t hold my breath on them making cultural armors available to all races. They reskinned the human light T3 and plastered flames and made it available to all races for money, not for free. Designing let’s say.. asura heavy T3 to work on a charr/norn.. will probably take more persuasion than wanting it as a free update.

It’s not really a ‘free’ update if people spend gems and convert them to gold for them or play the game more to get said gold. They’ve already done it for human T3, and if other races could wear them previously when you transmuted them, it means those models and ‘reworks’ are already there. It’s a matter of getting them to release the restrictions.

Yeah I want the original skin back, but I don’t think it’s going to happen :-( I was finally happy with my ele’s appearance… and then it got changed to the new design :-/ don’t know what I’m going to replace his appearance with now, but it’ll be a while before I find something I’m truly happy with again.

‘Human characters in GW1’? Uhm…yeah…ALL characters in GW1 were human and, therefore, cultural armor didn’t exist.

I’ve got the solution!

1. Give t3 cultural base armor ascended stats
2. use the remaining t3 armors from other races as meshes for other awesome skins and sell them on gem store.

I’m in no way affected by the original topic. I just have t3 armor and would love a free upgrade to ascended.

What I wanna know is why they didn’t leave the flame kissed skin in the gemstone as well and make it only usable on human t3 armor…. I mean it’s already been developed… No sense in wasting it entirely..

Because, as noted in the gazillion threads discussing this at the time and since, the manure storm would be absolutely immense at having it only for humans unless every race got something of similar quality, which is an amount of art development for which ANet does not currently have the resources.
