I saw this posted as a bug or something before and that ArenaNet said they would look into it. But that was a while ago now, and still people are able to list things they want to buy under the vendor price, thus making it impossible for me to sell directly to them because the Trading Post won’t let me sell things for under the vendor price.

Does anyone know if this is still being worked on? Can’t they just remove all the “I want to buy this” listings that are under the vendor price and let people put it up again and then not being able to place and offer below the vendor price? Because it is really annoying when they can put up buys for below the price, but you can’t sell to them.

Yeah I noticed yesterday, just about every piece of gear or weapon had an asking price of under the NPC sale. One item was worth 85 copper and it was sought for 2 copper. by 2 people with 100 orders total.

I wish the TP was set more like an auction house. Place your items or stacks, set a price, let it be filtered down to stats, type, cost, etc and be able to shop. Let the sellers price the item individually and set a time frame to keep it at auction. If you have an item that you want to sell higher than NPC, it could never sell for fair coin if there is an abundance of it. After fees, you gain nothing based on NPC sale.

I’ll buy a couple rare mats and it says 140 available at 65c, I’ll buy 3, then realize I need 1 more and immediately buy another and the price is 88c. Seems something is not quite right with the way it’s set up.

Its just as bad as people selling things for 1c(or whatever the posting fee is) under the vender price(or above?).
Why would i sell it to you for that price(and get less after posting fee),when i can vender it for more?

But all those “1c” or less then vender prices…they are getting very annoying, and im certain its just “those” people(even though they shouldnt be able to do that anyways)

Yes, it is very annoying. Almost all of my stuff I had tried to sell to highest buyers didn’t work since it is not possible to sell below vendor price.

The problem is that I can’t see the second highest buyer.

For instance yesterday: Highest buyer was 89c (below vendor price). Lowest seller was something like 8s.
They should make it impossible to give such offers. That would fix that problem.

By the way. Do you guys miss the option for direct trading? something like click on character and use: Trade. Similar to the whisper option.

How does that affects anyone? You can’t sell to buyer’s buying below vendor anyway…the only ones affected are those who put up the buy order.

Actually, Wazabi, it does affect us. I like being able to sell my stuff immediately to the bidder instead of listing it and waiting for it to sell, yet the Sell button is almost always greyed out. There is no reason why the dev’s don’t block people from entering bids that are below the minimum threshold. Having to see these ridiculously low bids that can’t ever be fulfilled is just asinine.

Scenario A: Dev didn’t block lower than vendor buy order. Result, you can’t sell it to highest buy order if it is below vendor.

Scenario B: Dev don’t allow lower than vendor buy order. Result, you can’t sell it to highest buy order because no one wants to buy at vendor price.

In both scenario, you still don’t get to sell your item. If people are willing to pay at or more than vendor price to buy an item, scenario A wouldn’t matter anyway because buy order will be higher than vendor price. If people are unwilling to pay at or more than vendor price to buy an item, scenario B won’t change anything. Hence, no effect.

Unless off course, you are willing to sell your item to a buyer paying below vendor price, , and paying the 15% tax, then yes you are correct. But, you will be better off paying 5% to list a sell order at vendor +1, take it down later, and vendor it.
