I opened up a Black Lion Chest and got a Permanent Hair Stylist Contract. Unfortunately when I tried to sell it on the Trading Post I was unable to. The listing price was in red and the sell button would not light up. Are we unable to sell such items or is there something that needs to be done because they are more expensive. Please help…………thanks

You have to pay a listing fee of 5% in order to sell an item on the Trading Post. For a very expensive item like that Contract, you probably just don’t have enough money for the listing fee. It must be paid even if you’re just filling the highest buy order.

Try asking around in your guild to see if anyone can lend you the gold needed. The listing fee will likely be around 150-200 gold, depending on how high the buy order is or what price you want to list it at.

Ah thanks Xiahou Mao. I forgot about needing to have that percentage since I have only been dealing in low priced stuff. Guess it means a lot more crafting and selling to get the amount. No kidding Vol…….I was totally blown away to see that.

when I got it I remembered seeing it on the TP main page. Then I looked it up on the Wiki and it said about it being rumors with it being drooped from chests. Can say that it is true for sure. Still amazed though

There’s not enough hair styles to warrant spending what the contract goes for. Even as a future investment for unreleased hair styles, it’s far cheaper to spend 150 gems on a self style kit. Now if we’re talking an investment over a multiple year period maybe…

I know two people who have gotten them in the last seven days; it’s definitely not removed, as ANet had originally planned to do.

I disagree with Vol’s advice though: use your money for fun (as well as wisely). Consider the silly (toys or instruments, mystery tonics, …) as well as the practical (more inventory space, e.g. bags or bank tabs). Treat yourself to a skin or two.

Do avoid helping a Tyrian Princess recover her guild bank by giving her the 200g she needs to rebuild it on a new world.

can someone confirm that this is a permanent version of the hair stylist kit..
i started grinding toward one of these until i realized the hairstylist kit only changes hair and facial hair..

because of the mindset that it is super rare and horrendously priced on the trading post, i somewhat disregarded that it probably doesn’t include eye color changes or norn tattoo changes..

i can understand arena net not wanting to implement a total make over kit as tradable.. but leaving this long ago wintersday prize item stagnate to the point where there is virtually no supply and also not revising it to a less lackluster condition, that its reimplementation through black lions chests has the demand priced higher than bifrosts!?
saddening..

Someone opened 1000 chests and didn’t get it. It is beyond rare from chests so why would anyone grind for it?

And yes, it’s just hair and face kit.

there’s a video of someone opening 1k and he Did get one.. only one actually.. and it popped around i dunno 600? chests opened.. so yes super rare

my point was it’s not worth the price of a legendary for just hair.. if arena net modified the item to accommodate hair, eye, and tattoos than it may actually be a worthwhile trading post item.. they can leave face, body, and name changes to the gem shop

It’s not worth it to Cheshirefox. It might be worth it to others. That’s how free markets work.

Just found myself in the same position. Been going through my characters getting their keys from chapter 1 of LS (I usually don’t bother, and have a lot of characters to go through there), got bored of waiting til i had everyones and opened them up now. My 3rd chest dropped the beauty. I am very happy, but also sad I have to farm the gold to get it. The Tyrian God of RNG truly loves me. The Tyrian God of Wealth wants one last laugh at me before I’m making like Scrooge McDuck.

I am also now in this situation. Want to sell the perm. hair stylist contract (got it out of a BL chest this weekend) and can’t sell because I don’t have enough gold to foot the listing fee.

Kinda sucks too because currently the lowest buy order is coming in at like 3000 gold whereas the lowest seller is coming in at 4199 gold….the difference in profit on that is about 1000 gold. Gonna need to grind for some gold just to list it, haha.

@THEmeltor: Find someone to loan you the money. There should be some well-known people on your server (commanders, trivia contest organizers, etc). I can think of 15-20 people who post helpful comments regularly on the forums (and that I’ve never met in game); any of them might be willing to do it for you, too.

SOLD. Someone was generous enough to loan me some gold to complete what I needed for my target selling price. Now I don’t know what I want to do with all this gold, haha.

Gotta love a game that vastly out rewards pure dumb luck over actually playing it.

“The Permanent Hair Stylist Contract is now a very rare drop from Black Lion Chests for the next 2 weeks only.”

More than 1 Month later and there is several people claming that it still drops from the BL chests… so or ANET are kidding with us, or we have a bunch of liars…

Or the person whose job it was to remove it from the drop table slipped up.

Except you aren’t 100% sure that you are fulfilling a buy order. That buy order may be gone when you click sell so you end up with a sell order at the previous high bid price. Which is how it works. All that radio button does between High Bid and Low Sell is set the price of the sell order for you. It still creates a sell order so 5% fee.

This will only lead to people using the TP as storage. List 250 iron ore at a price of 1000g, retrieve when needed. No costs made.
