Permanent gathering tools account-bound?
I’d love it if they made them account bound and would buy them all with real money on the first day they did so. If I bought one of each now, I’d only get to use them 25% of the time I play, since I’m switching between 4 characters at the moment.

Congrats! Your the one thousandth thread on this subject. You win a year’s supply of nothing. :p
I know the forum search here sucks and all but did you think you were the first with this suggestion (which should have been in Suggestion Board). Here are a few previous posts on the subject.

Haha! Oh well .. Guess I should have looked before! Thx for the info
you would think, with so many people asking for a feature that anet would consider doing it.. but then saying that, we still don’t have armor type filter on the trading post, being asked by 100’s of players since beta..
I know I’d buy one if it were account bound, and I’m sure many more people would also if they made this change.
you would think, with so many people asking for a feature and ANet not doing it says the answer at this time is a resounding NO.
I’m guessing that these tools are one of their best sellers so why “discount” it by switching it to account bound? Not to mention the hassle that if they did, players who bought multiples would demand compensation.

Not to mention the hassle that if they did, players who bought multiples would demand compensation.
this is rather specious, if we adhere to this methodology across the board then no items would ever become account bound, in fear of upsetting the rare few who purchased multiples for each character.
generally speaking, the majority playerbase, due to the cost/value of an item, usually do not buy multiples of expensive items for each character unless they can easily afford it, so they could hardly complain that arena net do something to please the majority of poorer players who cannot afford it on all their characters.
(if this statement was untrue, there wouldn’t be so many people asking for it to be account bound)
this is just greed, labelled by rich players and as “fairness” to help maintain their already overflowing wallets.
and yes, there will be a minority of poor players who spend every penny they get getting expensive items on all their alts, but the majority playerbased should hardly be punished for these types of players.
.
to conclude:
the outcome of making an expensive item account bound:
poor players = gain (only have to buy one yay!)
rich players = gain (only have to buy one yay!)
rich greedy players = no gain (omg my quarterly reports are gonna look bad..)
changes like this help balance the overall economy.

Don’t turn this into a 99 Vs 1% argument.
The game is free to play and these tools are a convenience. ANet decided to fund their continued operation by cash shop and not subscription or some hybrid where “premium” ie subscribers get nearly everything for free plus $5 of cash shop currency while F2P players get restricted to class/race, tiny inventories, restricted area, the same extra plain looking armor and nickle and dimed at every turn.
Because of that they have to, for their survival, put out attractive and useful items that cost a lot and to maximize their income, character not account bound them.

Well I just lived with it by buying 4 full sets the first time they came, and another 2 sets this time. That’s 6 full sets. If i want to change main, I don’t have to worry about this anymore. And farming has repaid a lot of these already. In a few months all the sets are repaid, so why should I regret it? I know there’s always better options but Anet needs their money. Be happy they give you the option to buy it with gold. I delayed my legendary/commander tag a long time, to buy stuff like this first, since i know gem price will only go up. I’m glad i did that now, and I catched up (got my commander tag now, and precursor).
No excuse anymore for not giving ‘hide mounts’-option
No thanks to unidentified weapons.
