Personal trade?
You can mail it to the other guy, and pray he keeps his end of the deal. Otherwise, sell on the TP.
Note – if you DO decide to make a Gentleman’s Agreement trade, and you lose your item, Anet will not get your item back. There are no restorations for poor choices.
Sell Colossus on TP. Buy Dawn from TP. There is no other secure way, nor will Anet create one because they already have a secure trading post.
You can always find a highly trusted person to be a middleman. Someone with multiple legendaries + good reputation. I don’t think anyone would want to risk an account that has multiple legendaries for precursors that are worth less.

What is the risk? ANet has said multiple times that it won’t get between player agreements. This does make you wonder why there is a ‘scamming’ category when reporting someone.
So that ANet can ban the scammer before they prey on more people. Just because people may be dumb enough to fall for Nigerian scams doesn’t mean that the scammers should get off unpunished. ANet will investigate and ban the scammer, but the victim still isn’t getting their money back.
They do ban the scammers, but they don’t restore scammed items or money. There were recently several complaints in Account Issues because someone, Roommate A, scammed another player out of a Dusk. Roommate B was banned for scamming – they share the computer but have different accounts – while Roommate A was not banned but the Dusk was removed from his inventory. The ban was upheld through multiple appeals, apparently Roommate B was involved in the scam in some way. So much for the “trusted middleman” method of trading.
Direct player trades have a couple “negatives”:
1. They do not remove gold from the economy like the 15% TP tax
2. We’ll see chat spam like Kamadan 1 in GW1… “WTS Tomented Shield, 60e”
I really don’t want the chat spam, and the 15% tax is necessary.
