Pile of Putrid Essence

I was farming and selling all of my mats when I realized I sold one of these piles of putrid essence for 50c and only 2 minutes later I am selling them for 99c!

What the hell is this material used for?? Was there a winter recipe including this or any other reason for the spike?

It was me. I bought the 1,000 cheapest of them on a hunch. I think I droped a whole 4 gold, so that’s not really a spike, is it?
