What are these for exactly? And does anyone know if they are going to make more use out of them on the upcomming patches?

For the longest time, I was a big advocate here for investing in piles since it’s a safe investment. It was only then I realized that these piles only drop from Risen mobs did I decide to sell all.

Right now they’re used to make certain runes as well as food that helps against Risen. I just can’t see it being used for something else that is generic.

It’s still a good investment, but I don’t see it skyrocketing.

Believe me, the day you go for mystic clovers, you will hate every time you see them! :-D

Meh I just bought a stack of them, maybe ill get lucky and they make something really cool with the patch.

And my Ele loves it because of this (especially 6th):

Superior Rune of the Undead
(1): +28 Condition Damage
(2): +15 Toughness
(3): +55 Condition Damage
(4): +35 Toughness
(5): +100 Condition Damage
(6): 5% of Toughness becomes Condition Damage

I have another 5 or 6 spares to make more of these runes – if I get other armor.

P.S. I run Power/Toughness/Condition.

Well, I’m betting a lot of people lost a LOT of money on these. A lot of people are also probably now stuck with thousands of these post-patch because of buy-orders.

Personally I dumped about 7k of these at 97 copper immediately after the patch. I bought them for ~50 copper though so I’m happy but I imagine whoever I dumped them on isn’t.

I see them more as a long term investment. At some point expansions will come out and people will stop rushing to Orr for endgame content, around then I expect additional recipes/uses/sinks for the essences added to raise demand.

Meh I lost about 50 silver. Was a gamble I gambled on. Sold my stack soon as prices fell.

This IS a long term investment that will most certainly pay off. You can’t expect to sell them ten times the price right after the first patch. I have bought 25.000 of these, and I think this is a good investment. Making a single Pile costs now over 50s, as it has the exact same recipe as the lodestones. So my advice is: DON’T SELL.
