Please do not restrict the TP via Power Trader
“Allows up to 4 listings of same type with quantities of up to 1000.”
The way I interpret the functionality of the item is that it allows a player to have buy/sell listings of up to 1000 four times for the same type. Just based on the text alone that is all it says it does. The description makes me feel like this is just a quality of life addition for players that trade on the market often and in large quantities. Any limiting upon normal players that don’t have this item on either the number of buy/sell orders per item type or the quantity is just mere speculation based on assumptions.
If Power Trader would be a strict boost to current situation with no downside to everyone else I don’t think it would be worth buying at all.
So I sense some severe restrictions coming to everyone, and I’d really hate that.
If a “Power Trader” item implies having a limit of up to 4 listings up to 1000 quantity that’s much worse than unlimited offers up to 250, isn’t it? If it was only about selling 1000s of one particular item it wouldn’t be a problem, but I’m afraid the restrictions may be more severe (limit buying just as well as selling, other limits to total number of different items sold, etc.).
Arenanet is simply wasting resources by limiting everything – and I mean EVERYTHING – to 250. I mean come on, it’s 250 years farther into the future – see, 250… wtf? They even stack years.
The Charr figured out mechanics, aeronautics, and explosive chemistry, the Asura continue with their alchemical machinations, the Humans have barely moved forward at all, the Norn simply moved, and a new race was born. But with all that advancement Anet kept the stack at 250 knowing full well that we would definitely need more than that during our daily activities. Anet doesn’t learn their lessons very well, 250 wasn’t enough in GW1, it definitely isn’t enough with crafting like it is, and to top it all off, they gave us a trading post which wont take ALL of my stuff at one time.
They want us to play the way we want to but restrict every single action we perform to a rigid standard that no longer holds relevance.
If time = money then they are wasting a considerable amount of our money.
If I have 250 of an item I can just sell it off really quick, but if I have 251 I either have to hold onto that 1, merch it, or sell it in a different transaction costing me a lot more than it’s worth to sell.
In this crafting centric trading post, shouldn’t restrictions be limited as much as possible instead of implemented?
I’d be fine with them restricting you to only one or two stacks on the TP at a time. Right now you can place tons of stacks up for sale and leave them there, essentially giving you the ability to store infinite amounts of a good so long as you set it up for sale immediately. Placing a limit on this forces players to actually mule all the items they want to save up, and will cut down on the millions of items up for sale at prices too high to have a chance at selling anytime soon. Just look at candy corn.
I dont exactly like it, but it is a great way to get more people to buy gems for more bank/bag/character slots. More people buying gems = possibly more money for anet and even lower gem prices in gold.
Possible to get a link to the post regarding powertrader? Anything increasing the prices for our items is undesirable, right now people are struggling to make any profit at all.

You’ve got it backwards. If Anet makes gems more desireable, then more people trade gold for gems and the price goes up. Everything Anet adds to the gem store helps increase the price of gems.
