I’d like to buy my friends some things in the gem store for Wintersday.

I know I could just send the equivalent gold amount, but man that’s not as classy.

Do this so i can send people some bunny ears.

I would love to gift items and even gems to friends, guildies and family.

Speaking of family this would give those of us who are parents another great way to control purchasing by our children.

You can gift them gold already that they can convert to gems. Gifting gems opens up just another issue to the game.

It opens nothing up, it means people can just send other people useless items from the gem store. I agree this needs to be done, every other game has this function and there are no problems with it.

I guess your right. I was thinking more on a fraud level. If they couldn’t transfer gems, I guess said hacker still could convert your gems in your account to gold and still ship it off to another account. Carry on.

The only ‘fraud’ I could think of is if they open it up and people start selling items for gold via gifting. I doubt this would happen because of two things, a) it would be a large undertaking to keep everything straight on actually making gold from it and b) the fraudulent count could sky rocket.

Like I said I doubt people would even do that because you have to calculate, Gems to Gold and Gold to Gems per day, possibly per hour with the rate it changes to make sure you are not losing money. You would have to figure out much gold it takes to get 1 gem, multiply that by the amount of gems required, then figure out how much gold you get from that amount of gems to make sure you are making money….lots of work.
