Huh. You’re right. I wonder why supply has dropped so sharply. Possible speculation over next week’s updates? (As Novice level cooking mats, Potatoes might be needed along with Carrots and Onions for crafting the new Chef backpiece.)

Yup. Many price spikes can be related to stuff that was said on reddit, specially datamined stuff from that_shaman because his posts get upvoted pretty quickly.
I still remember when he datamined the spinal backpack. The recipe said that it required wine but it didn’t specify which kind, so players started to speculate that you would need grapes to craft the wine. In the end it turn out to be elonian wine as some of us had predicted and those who bought grapes lost quite a bit of money.
In this case, I don’t expect anet to implement here everything that there’s in the chinese client. Even Colin said on reddit long ago that many features where exclusive for the chinese because the way mmorpgs work there is a bit different and also they are required to have a chinese publisher (Kong Zhong).
