Precursor drop rate is too small
i have spent about 90 gold so far trying for The Legend. i guess i am not doing it right.
/sigh, another one of these posts.
The reason for the cost is precisely because of people like you who are “gambling” on these precursors. With a very, very impressive and wide supply of exactly 1 in stock right now, and a ton of people (like you, apparently…) who want this item, the person selling this rifle can set the price extremely high.
Also, given that this person has to spend so much just to put this item on the market (already put okitteng minimum), for him/her to take it back off now and reprice would cost quite a bit of gold, so there isn’t much choice to make the item a lower price.

The reason for the cost is the abysmal drop rate, not the fact people try to create the supply. What happened to logic?
It’s working as intended. It’s a very rare item. Should something drop often, then it wouldn’t be rare. So it’s only logical for a rare item to actually be rare.
Case and point:
http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/29175Please. Look at that. I and multiple others have gambled on this precursor from the toilet but even after hundreds of gold it won’t drop. John is this really what anet wants? I’m being very sincere here, why do you want them to go to these heights? What is it that you accomplish by doing this other than driving away people? I mean really. I give up.
Why not go after his precursor?

Oh that argument is tired and nonsensical please move on.

No it’s not. You argued there’s a precursor problem.
When I look at Venom it doesn’t seem like that.
It’s a demand problem.

Its a supply problem when 600+ g in the forge doesn’t result +1 supply.

All i can say is keep trying, i had been struggling for months crafting rares, doing events for rares then throwing them in the forge and then a couple days ago i got the bard & rage from using exotics. (not the ones i wanted) then the next day i got spark.
It is luck if you get 1 but for me to get 3 in 2 days, It is not a supply problem

That makes no sense. It’s not a supply problem because it’s rare. It’s that way BY DESIGN. If it takes 600G+ with no result, that gives you a really good clue on just how rare this item is INTENDED to be. QQing that you can’t get one doesn’t make a convincing argument for change.

You gambled and took the risk- and you lost. That has nothing to do with supply.
If 600g would guarantee a precursor in the forge, guess where the prize for the pre cursors would stand.
