Because shocking the market is apparently not really that big a deal (for example, https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news/Upcoming-mega-boss-chest-change/first#post1656442) can we get an update on the current thoughts on the precursor drop rate and price?

I think the big announcement that ‘people are playing too much and being rewared for it consistently is a huge problem we’re removing next patch’ is pretty much grounds to scream at the Devs.

EDIT: A certain poster pointed out that there are over 20 events which guarantee rare drops. So unless you’re doing Maw/FE with 10 alts, you’re really not losing much. In fact, having alts in this case is a pretty great advantage compared to a person doing all 20 events on one single character since you can camp alts in certain locations and save on WP costs.

So mmeh. I don’t think this is a big deal at all.

I think it’s more accurate to say that they’re trying to un-shock the market after suddenly giving all the world bosses yellow diarrhea.

Honestly I don’t know why they don’t just up the precursor mf rate a bit more. Giving out precursors in events is certainly not the answer as we saw from the karka debacle, and this whole rare bonanza while increasing supply also increased demand a whole lot.

Also they need to nerf cof path 1 to the ground in order to stop the massive inflation of high end items (since every path is generating bucketloads of gold). It’ll be better for the economy if farming mats becomes as effective as farming gold.

You’re assuming they think there’s not enough precursors being created. I suspect that’s not the case at all. They want to give them out from playing the game because there’s a large portion of the population who either doesn’t know to, or outright refuses to attempt mystic forge creation. Event chests are a very easy way to control the overall creation rate, and puts the more casual players on more even footing with the hardcore players in terms of being able to get a drop, which limits RMT’s ability to profit from them.
