Hands Off My Octopus
(edited by crewthief.8649)
Yeah, this really does seem to be something that would be a basic feature on the TP. In a game where appearance is a primary motivator for gearing up, I have to open GW2 wiki and search items so that I know what they look like prior to purchase.

So would I. I spend a lot of time making sure my armor looks right. And it’s very frustrating to buy a new piece of armor, just to find out it doesn’t match. especially since I like to save my transmutation stone for maintaining my guild armor appearance.
Also more skins please.
It’s in the works, see this interview of Colin Johanson :

“We actually do have a team that is working on building preview for the Trading Post; it’s coming along pretty well. It’s not something that will be in this month’s release, it’s probably still a ways off but that is something that they’re actively working on right now and you will see it at some point in game.”
this feature is not only needed or wanted, it is a fundamental part of the game.
the games “end game” is considered to be to get nice looking gear for yourself (cosmetic stuff). and we can’t even see how the stuff looks like at the tp where we buy 99% of our gear? it’s like removing the stat information from the WoW auction house. we couldn’t care less about the stats as long as it’s the right type of stats and the right lvl/quality on the item. and odds is we’ll just transmute them anyway.
this is a future that should have been at the release day, or within the month of release. the fact that this isn’t in the game is why ppl are complaining that there is no “end game” because they don’t know what to aim for. if you give ppl the ability to look at stuff on the tp all players would be able to set up goals for themself like “WHOW, that staff looks sick, i want that.” atm ppl just think there is a few types of skins out there atm because there is only a few types of icons. there is ALOT of skins out there. sure, they are expensive, but they exist. atm you have to go to gw2 db to get to preview items and that is nothing the regular gamer does.
this feature is as essential to the game as adding a zone to the game is!
GW2 have probably losts 10000s of players because of the lack of this feature.
+1
+sorting by different armor type
+linking in chat from TP
I can’t wait for this to happen !!
Not only would I like to see this, but I would like to see a preview of dungeon armor, where I could cross the armor from one dungeon and see how it looks together.

have you even tried ? because you can… just go there with the one you want to have the Armour and keep the preview window open and you can mitch and match as much as you please. even add different types of weapons or dyes.
Today I bought a Midnight Fire Dye on the Trading Post because on the mouse-over icon, it looked it was even darker than the Black Dye. Midnight Ice was virtually the same visually, but Midnight Fire was a couple gold cheaper so I went for it. Applied it to my armor and it was straight up brown. Just as with other end-game weapons and armor, I’m not purchasing anything that will change the appearance of my character off of the Trading Post just because of this issue. It’s a waste of gold, which is a waste of time in which I’m trying to enjoy the game. Next time I’ll make sure to only use what I already own so I can actually see what it is.
This will take some SERIOUS effort on the programmers… and since it’s not a CASH EARNER… it’s at the bottom of the list. Don’t ever expect to see this feature as there are too many items that would FAIL in a preview.
New Riding Broom and New Plush Quaggan Backpack Cover for those that want to say “Coo!”
Wow, can anyone say lame? Oh well, coo game otherwise…
I admit, we need this! I wish i could preview my weapons I won’t buy my level 80 shortbow yet since I can’t even see how it looks like. I wish we could at least see the real appearance before buying it, since most of them got the same picture
