Purchasing items or gold with real money

Is this frowned upon or not allowed in any way? I was wondering if, as long as one didn’t sell accounts, that selling virtual goods is okay. If it is, is there anyway to check the reputation of the seller, anything like Source OP? I used to trade quite a bit in Team Fortress 2, and had made some fairly decent profits from selling pixels. Any help would appreciated. Thanks for answering!

You can purchase in-game gold with real money through the gem store. Buy gems → convert to real gold.

I don’t think any other sources of using IRL money is allowed, however.

If you’re talking about purchasing items or gold via a third-party service, then no, that is not allowed and is a bannable offense.

You can effectively “buy” gold by purchasing gems with real money through the gem store, and then exchanging those gems for gold. Buying gold directly from gold sellers is not allowed, no matter what they might claim in their spam mail and on their websites.

Hello everybody.

The only real money transactions that we do contemplate is the purchasing of gems (which can be converted into in-game gold), as it has already been indicated. All other practices are not allowed and can be considered banable.
