Purge TP buy orders below the minimum price
It would be nice.
But since orders below the minimum price cannot even be filled and therefore have zero effect on the economy I would rate this very low priority.
As for your final point, I don’t see it as being needed. If people randomly list an item without checking the price then that’s neither ANets fault nor their problem.
I would however support a more detailed list of charges to allow people to easily see how much they will make by selling the item. Something like tpcalc.com’s details on the right hand side:
Sell Price – 2s 0c
Listing Fee – 10c
Sales Tax – 20c
Final Amount – 1s 70c
Or something along those lines, and it might be a good idea to make it clearer when the listing fee is applied (each time you list, rather than when you sell).

It would indeed be nice — I was thinking about this last night, in fact.

They have a miniscule effect on the economy as a gold sink, since they’ve taken some cash out of circulation semi-permanently. Now they’re just bids that can’t ever fill (with the current system), and they’ll sit there forever unless the player in question cancels the bid(s). Thanks to the laws of averages and probability, there’s a good chance that at least some of those bids were placed by players who have since left the game, so those bids will sit there until either Anet purges them or until the servers shut down.
In the meantime, those items are just ones we can’t sell on the auction house. Other items we can’t sell there don’t show up in the TP interface, so it would be more efficient for us if Anet would purge those “below vendor” bids.
I would agree on having all the “under vendor value” orders purged since when you go to list them you see the “current” going rate on the TP is listed as 1c, a LOT.
Having the sales fee listed along with the listing fee would be nice.
Maybe having a limit on how many active orders/listings a player can have at one time could do some good to keep the market from becoming a “secondary storage” like I’ve seen happen in other MMOs. If anything, maybe a time limit on how long a listed item can remain listed.

This along with purging all the buy orders for things that are no longer available for purchase because they are account bound and orders of items that aren’t even in the game. Actually it would be better if they just purged those items from the TP altogether.
I also forgot to add that it would be nice to put an upper price limit on items listed that can be bought at a vendor too. Kinda like the Rune of Holdings (all types) that I’ve seen on the TP for double or more than what you can buy them from the vendor for.

No.
If you want to sell for a set price then sell to a vendor.
The TP is where players decide what something is worth.

Please note, I specified only the items that can be bought at a vendor should receive an upper limit. Preferably between the vendor value and what the purchase price is.
That would be to prevent players from buying items from the vendor and then selling them for more on the TP.
Example (using current TP price listings):
Minor Rune of Holding = Bought at the Vendor for 4s 96c with a value of 62c.
Listed on the TP at 6s 20c
Rune of Holding = Bought at the Vendor for 14s 80c with a value of 1s 85c.
Listed on the TP at 16s 95c
Major Rune of Holding = Bought at the Vendor for 50s with a value of 6s 25c.
Listed on the TP for 60s 97c
Greater Rune of Holding = Bought at the Vendor for 2g with a value of 25s.
Listed on the TP for 2g 77s 74c
Superior Rune of Holding = Bought at the Vendor for 10g with a value of 1g 25s.
Listed on the TP for 13g 89s 90c

What is wrong with those items being listed for more on the TP?

That’s what I want to know.
If players are stopping other people from being able to get to the vendors, that’s bad.
If players are just offering an alternative, allowing people to choose between a higher priced item on the TP or taking the time to go to the vendor, then I don’t see any problem whatsoever.
