So, I’m back after a year or so away. I have a jetpack on Sea of Sorrows. I’m wanting to sell it, but a little hesitant.

Right now, the lowest available one is 930g(46g listing fee). I want to sell it, but my dilemma is if I match lowest price, pay the 46g fee, and then people slowly start undercutting me to the point where I become the highest priced one; mine will never sell and I’m out 46g.

Any one have advice on how to avoid this issue?

You cannot avoid it. It’s the risk that everyone who sells on the TP takes. What you can do is mitigate this risk. How much mitigate depends on how much gold you want to risk.

Generally the closer you sell to the buy order, the less risk you take

If you look at the price history, there is very limited movement on buy orders, hence very limited demand for this item. There is also limited movement for sellers, although keep in mind that there may be other sellers of the molten jetpack who may be willing to eat the listing fee and undercut you.

What I do for an item like this is price it at 50% of the difference, which in this case 855. But then again, I’m willing to take on risk so your acceptable price may even be lower than that, like 820g.

edit: also WARNING..if you do decide to sell to the buy order, do not use the vendor price trick. You may have missed the news awhile back that they fixed it. If you do not know what it was, don’t worry and disregard this warning

There really isn’t a good solution unless you know someone that wants to purchase it. You can then trade with the. If you trust them or with a trusted mediator.

There’s no incoming supply so I don’t see it being too big of an issue. There’s still a risk but it should be minimal. As long as you’re patient, it will eventually sell.

I’d be surprised if you don’t get your 930g asking price. The question is only: how long are you willing to wait?

If the answer is: not long, then ask for less, maybe 850g. The difference between 790g (from 930g asking price) and 663g (from accepting the top bid) isn’t going to change your wealth by enough to affect how you play, so it’s really the age-old marketplace question of: do you want less money immediately or more money later?

Depend if you want your money quick.

The reality to me is your item will sell, just how long you need to wait. (that is Anet dont’ release jetpack again). The only risk you have is Anet release the item again very soon and it start piling up.

I quit gw2 from time to time. And evertime I came back, everything on the TP eventually sell, some just take a few month.

^ Basically what laokoko said. Barring ANet bringing the Jetpack back (unlikely, but they’ve done it once before, so never say never), it WILL eventually sell. It just may take a long time, as the people who HAD to have a Jetpack, likely already have one. The buy offers now could very likely be just speculators hoping to pick one up for cheap’ish.
