Race change for the gem store
I honestly think race change should be included, at the moment you can transfer skins over by transmuting to a white item and once again on the item with your desired stats even when soulbound. All the race change item needs to do is pop a warning stating that personal story will be reset and all racial armor won’t be usable and require that the player types his name in the box to proceed to make sure he’s well aware.
I am one of the many players who wishes for this to happen.
Hi, it would be a hit for sure, but i don’t want to see it in the game sry;)
Regards.
It would be a hit and I do want to see it in the game

Race change wouldn’t be easy to implement many personal story factors are tied to your race
Race change would be a great money maker, I for one would use it too.
Race changes should be a must IF it was difficult to level up a new character to top, and difficult to get the gear. With the current system i don’t agree on a race change ticket!
No……….
Just start a new character. U’ll have to think a little bit before u do something. Or put a little effort in what u want to have.

You could make that argument about anything. Why don’t we all just pick 1 weapon from the start and can’t change for the whole game?

Geikamir,
In some part i agree with Frostfang. Every decision comes with consequences. Some may be corrected, some may not. Sometimes we have to think very well before we make decisions, and choosing a race/profession is one of those. If we don’t choose accordingly to our liking we can simply create another character! More work? indeed, but it’s caused by the choices we make!
/cheers
The point is that the race is one of the truly important decisions you actually make. So it’s a bit of a shame that people don’t really think about it. I mean, you can spend hours in character creation and don’t you ever stop to think whether you really want to play X race? I know I do. I swap back and forth until I get it just right.
Weapons, you are MEANT to be able to swap. The game was designed that way, so that each char has a set number/type of weapons they can use. So your example is a poor one. Race was obviously meant to be permanent – as it is in most games where you choose your race at the beginning. You are signing up for the story of that race.
Now, sometimes, yes, we get it wrong. But surely you noticed that around level 20? I certainly never got to 80 and decided I couldn’t stand my char.
Now, yes, you might argue that we already have an option that will offer you a gender change, so why not race? Well, gender has absolutely no impact on the game other than a cosmetic one. Race, on the other hand, changes everything about the way the story goes, your starting area, your first experiences, your personal story (even, if the game does its job right, the way you build a “relationship” with your char). If all of that is missing or changeable, it leads to a lot of “throwaway” characters, which is a shame.
While I wouldn’t be fussed if ANet DID add an option to change your race to the gem store, I personally would rather create another char.
Race does not matter at all, really tired of players in games crying No for new content that will not effect them in anyway if they choose not to take part. I prefer the model “play as you want”, race change is optional, and optional content always keeps players interested.
For the players that level through WvW, DE, gathering/crafting story can be meaningless…If it mattered so much I wouldn’t have been able to level my Necro 50 levels in a afternoon not leaving LA.
Players that don’t want this really don’t matter in this optional content, it is the players willing to drop 800 gems that do.

Yes it would be a big hit and would generate a lot of income for Anet. Expect to see race change coming to a gem shop near you soon.
I’d just like to know if they’re looking foward to it.
I’m fine with my choices but i’m thinking that changing race could improve it. I wouldn’t mind too much redoing my char tbh, but redoing it and then as soon as i hit 80 again see the race change hit the CS would be…slightly..annoying.
Most used: Guard/Mes/War/Nec/Ele.
Yes, i use 5 chars at time. Because REASONS.
I would happily forfeit cultural armor to be able to change races. Race change would really exist for people who are truly lazy anyway, since you can 1-80 a character in a few hours by leveling crafting skills.
But I think it would be a nice feature because all races in GW2 are not created equal. For example, armor is idiosyncratic to races and tends to look weird on Norn and Charr. Also, character movements for certain races is less than impressive (e.g., compare Norn sluggish movements to Asura).
The reason why race change should be provided, IMO, is precisely because some races really do feel and play better than others. For someone like me who has 2 legendaries on his Norn Guardian, I would love to switch to another race without giving up all of my progress and transmuting my legendaries into mere skins.
Now, if racial differences were indeed purely aesthetic I would say that this feature should not be implemented. You chose a character and it is what it is. But because there really is a difference in feel when playing the larger, slower races, I think a race change should be permitted because those differences were more difficult to foresee when original picking a character. Alternatively, of course, Anet could opt to optimize all of the character animations and armor for all races. This however seems less likely than a gem store fix.
@kilandros you probably should have realized you didnt like norn movement long before you got the 2 legendaries. imho it wouldnt have hurt to try all the races in the first week to get a feel for what you would like to put the most time into.

Yes because playing every race during the first week after launch would accurately disclose all of those classes quirks I’d later experience with end-game content. Oh wait I did and they didn’t.
