Hi! i was just wondering if there was going to ever be a race change made into the Total Make over kit, i would think this is a great idea and very valuable to players that would like to change there race, but keep continuing on with there main characters.

Not going to happen because it would mess up your personal story.

ahh fair enough, im just sick of being a charr warrior, and want to be human. and surely Anet are smart enough to actully change your story though, idk haha

Would be a neat idea;however, there are a lot of complications that would arise
1) Cultural armour
if your a charr and switch to human, you shouldn’t be able to wear charr cultural armour on a human, which could create a lot of QQ on wasted gold etc.

2) Story line issue, it’s true from the racial stand points, things can be adapted and changed by updating the first 15 chapters; however, you would also run an issue on future outcomes not being what you chose pursey.

3) Racial skill change, not a big deal, can be done easily but it would be another factor.

4) Home Zone areas being not-discovered. for those who go after map completion this is not a big deal or issue, but for the common newbie this would be a huge problem since you frequently have to return to your home town for cultural armour, weapons, story line, and what not.

It can be done, and I think it would be neat; however, I think there are to many complications at the moment for them to pursue it

With the Cultural armor though, it would get changed to your races one that you pick, instead of deleting it, just like if you get a faction change on WoW and your mounts/achievements change to the race/faction you have picked. i think Anet is smart enought to do this, is Blizz can do it perfect, then Anet should have no trouble with it. and i would buy it straight away if they did haha, (P.S if they did they would also need to put a name change in it aswell) but i would def’s buy it :P

I get the impression there is a policy of preserving single-character identity. Attaching dies to characters rather than accounts is one example of this. The outright refusal to allow mid-stream race changes is another.

Yes, because everyone has 2000 $/€ lying around to buy enough gems for a legendary …

I, for one, would like race change also. My mesmer is sylvari, but I want him to be asura. I have map completion almost done on him ( wvw part is killer … ), 3 pieces of ascended ( trivial, this can be refarmed ), etc … Many hours spent in him.

The time spent with that char is what makes me NOT want to redo the whole thing from 0.

The cultural armor argument is flawed, as it wouldn’t take a whole lot of code to switch armor to the the target race one.

Personal story? Tbh, that stops around 20 ( or is it 30? Forgot ). Once you join an order, it’s the same for all( down to the dialogues. I know, I’ve done it – unless I missed something ).

So yeah, a makeover kit that includes a race change would be awesome!!! But alas, if arenanet said no … makes me a sad panda

I honestly don’t see why we need to involve personal story in this at all. Race change could act as more of a transmog for your character and not touch your character’s history. Cultural items can be very easily mapped to the new race’s version or even refunded for karma and skill points for the racial skills can simply be refunded. The race change could even be explained by guild wars lore and added to your story as your character being altered by a new asura invention or something.

I would also like this since I really like the asurans but I dont think it will ever happen
