Hi. I’m not a particularly fan of whining, but… the animation of new sickle rly saddened me. First: I would like to preserve the unique sickle animation. I mean harvesting… Why character hews ground with sickle as with pick? It’s just mining animation… Preposterous somehow.
Second about the visual effect: it is just a little ranger’s healing spring =_= Perhaps it would be better to create a new unique animation with the… aquatic theme? This object, to put it mildly, is not cheap. And pick advances by effectiveness and usefulness in several times. However, the price is the same. It would be necessary to keep the visual effect at the same level at least, in that case.

Yea i agree animation is really bad i’m gathering that herb, not mine picking it…but what is really bad herbs are quick 1 time gather not 3 minings like animation shows. Either change the animation or give us 3 things from herb because like this is just lame and weird.

The animation is actually about 25% longer, if that, compared to a regular sickle. Still, you’re all right, strange to have a pick animation for a sickle. That and most nodes will completely cover the spring.

Then why? For the money you spent on this sickle, you could buy more than 625 same ori sickles. In one day, you spend about half of usual stacks of sickle. What approximately means that to recoup it, you will need ~ 3.5 years. The unique model? I agree, good. But that is not necessary. And do not justify such a price. Also clearly evident that the animation lasts longer than usual, making this thing even less effective.

I myself am a fan of such things, but if devs do not plan to change it, I will not buy another.

The sickle is a bit disappointing compared to the mining pick. The tiny spring is almost hidden in the bush I’m mining….or harvesting.
I’ll be ok with it though, as long as they remove that last swing from the animation. I didn’t spend gems so I had to spend more time harvesting.

I bought it so I wouldn’t have to worry about switching/replacing Sickles. Will I get my gold out of it in pure profit? Most likely not. Do I like not having to worry about how many uses my Sickle has now? You betcha! That’s pretty much the same reason I bought the Molten Pick, too.

Like I said, the only thing that bothers me (and it sorta kinda really bothers me) is the animation. I’d like some sorta acknowledgment that this is either a bug or intended.

I bought it to to never have to worry about sickles again so i don’t care about animations. Although i really do care about time. It takes 3 times longer to harvest with new sickle this is unacceptable.

I have to say, after watching one of my friends mine everything they could get their hands on with the Molten Mining Pick, I was really excited to buy the new harvesting sickle and not have to worry about gathering anymore.

However, with the complaints about the animation time and the animation itself, I haven’t bought any gems and I’m not going to get the sickle. It looks really weird to be mining a bunch of plants. I like the flowers that grow up around them, but they’re too small. The entire item just feels rushed, and I don’t really want to support the game through it.

If it gets a normal sickle animation and some improvements on the other animations, then I’ll pick it up. However, as long as it feels like a simple re-skin of the molten pick, I won’t buy it.

Im glad they went back with the sickle animation, but kinda wish the effect would maybe be a bit bigger? Kinda like the Molten Pickaxe huge lava burst, I think they could make the water spout more erupting. Nothing wrong with a little overboard… =)

After watching the video you posted, the water spout looks fine. I guess because my character is so tall it makes the spout seem a lot smaller to me. I still want it bigger like the Molten Pickaxe, hehe.

thankyou dulfy for both vids – everyone can now make a more informed decision – not for me tyvm, though I did purchase the Molten pick and love it.

Personally I feel that the new sickle sound is the biggest improvement – the initial mining dinks were more offputting than the hoeing animation – but the overall effect is certainly less dramatic now.

Anet/NCSoft missed a golden opportunity here.
Since the sickle design is Sclerite, they could have made it more .. tentacular.
The waterspout a matching oily gloop that the Sclerite weps ooze.
Combine that with the Consortium Whip animation, and you’d have a winnar, people would flock to the gemstore in droves (well I’d buy it – a tentacle-whip that uproots plants and makes the ground bleed).

Is there any video of this new updated animation? I was planning to hold my gems until I see a decent animation, or just wait for their next unlimited sickle whenever that would be.

Edit: I found a youtube video. Looks much better. Still a little forceful, but not a simple pick axe.
