I gifted my fiancĂ©e a cosmetic armour set from the gem store, only after realising that she already had the paticular set that I’ve bought for her. She hasn’t taken the item out of the mailbox yet, because well, it would be a waste to use it since she already has it.

So the question is; what happens now? Am I able to get my gems back so I can get something else instead?

It sucks a bit that the gem store doesn’t tell you that they already have something, considering you can’t ask them before-hand what they have and don’t have (since that completely negates the point of gifting in the first place xD)

If only they had listened to the numerous suggestions in the last ~year since gifting was available to add a ‘return gift’ button.
you should open a support ticket and ask them for a gem refund
I believe this is the url to do that:

It’s funny, every post I see about opening a ticket says to “click support at the top of the page, then click ‘open ticket’”, but there is no ‘open ticket’ button. I always just google “gw2 support ticket”.

For future reference, it doesnt say open ticket it says something like ‘Submit a request’ and is on the right hand side at the very top of the page when you click on support
