Refund: Royal Terrace passes (resolved)
Update: as the offer for a permanent pass runs out in 10 hours, I have bought the permanent pass. Therefore, I would just like to request a refund of the temporary passes.

You see no point in it; yet I like it very much. However, that, and the question of whether or not it’s exclusive is completely beside the point. It’s a customer care issue.

When gather tools became account bound, a poster received a dev response telling him there would be a refund.
I don’t see why this is different. However you are correct, we as players, can’t directly help him, but you could support him.

It’s a status symbol. Sure you can get access to all the stuff in that area, but only VIP can be in that area. Just like the 1st class lounge at the airport.
I have now also created a support ticket, thank you for the suggestion. I did indeed have the gathering tools issue in mind, as ethics pointed out, when creating this post on the forum. I might be a crazy fool, but I have a feeling I’m not the only crazy fool, which is why I decided to create this thread.
I never even used the pass I got when it first came out, beyond stepping inside and touristing. It seems easier to use the amenities elsewhere than to go to an isolated corner of DR.

You double click it and it sends you there immediately, without any waypoint fees or running anywhere…..
I found it worth it.

On a related note, I got the permanent pass now, because, you know, I like to feel pretty and fabulous. But when I try to talk to a guild armorer, guild weaponsmith or trying to access the guild bank I get the dialogue that I lack the proper permissions resp. that we don’t have a contract, but I do and we have, because it works in every other place.
Sooo does the terrace count as another server? It doesn’t from the guild roster and then why doesn’t it work? It’s not high priority for me but it is a bit annoying. Or is this a known bug I haven’t heard of yet?

You aren’t. It’s obvious people (including myself) wouldn’t have purchased the temporary pass if they knew a permanent pass was going to be offered.

And that user spent somewhere close to 19000 gems on the items, and the same item change from Soul > Account bound. You bought 2 different items.
I bought the Heavy Aetherblade armor months ago, but now it is on sale? Do I get a price adjustement… nope.

Yes, but when the info that is needed to make an informed decision is purposely left out, overlooked and/or ambiguous they always make a refund. E.G.—buying 2 infused that were the same because the info wasn’t clear that you couldn’t wear two of the same rings (or whatever)—full refund(of laurels) from support.
Look at the permanent gathering tools—when they changed to account bound from soulbound —-full refund for all those extra tools purchased for each character--ful refund of gems.
Just a matter of contacing support. MY problem is with full disclosure that is clear and concise when putting an item on sale, sorta like the snake oil salesman, it’s often lacking.

Speaking as someone who isn’t interested in the pass and just goes to WvW for all his banking needs, I hope you get your refund, Buttercup.

Im calling foul cuz I missed my chance to buy the perimant tarrace, and now I hear anet will never make it avialable again. Just because I went to eat came back and it was here and gone before I had the chance to purhase it. I’m seriously angry over this. I want my perminant pass!
You ate for 24 hours? Any place it was displayed showed the 24 hour count down timer.
Now if you said you didn’t log in over the weekend I would believe as an excuse but eating? Really?

Simple solution is to not buy frivolous things to begin with.
Don’t support the Gem Shop, it’s that easy.
I just received news from Arenanet support of its decision to kindly refund the gems for the temporary passes. So for my particular case, it’s case closed, and trust restored/confirmed (I fortunately have only had good experiences with support in this respect).
My regards to others who are in the same position; I hope your cases will be resolved soon as well.

If I may be “that guy” for a moment it’s “buyer beware” or more accurately “let the buyer beware” (latin: caveat emptor).
It is a legal saying based on the information asymmetry between seller and buyer where the seller almost always has more information about the goods or services than the buyer. Hence, the buyer should always be cautious.
There is a flip side “caveat venditor” (let the seller beware) which applies to situations for example at a rummage sale where someone is selling an old family painting and the buyer knows it’s worth significantly more than the asking price.

I’m sure it WILL make a return someday, Morrigan. If there’s demand for it, it will come back, just like the unlimited gathering tools.
If I noticed they were permanent, I might’ve grabbed one. Think I only logged on for a moment, glanced by it, and shrugged it off. Doh.
