Just wondering, the royal terrace pass is on sale for 1000gems. Is this pass unlimited or has a 2 weeks expiry date

It is unlimited for as far as anyone can tell/see. There’s no timer on it.

It is permanent, as unlike the temporary version, when used there is no time remaining tooltip.

Yup, just bought one and it’s permanent.

Very happy with it, only tweak I’d like to see from using a few times is to be able to use it between alts without the previous alt being turfed out like (the) hoi polloi.

Does clicking on the royal pass object waypoint you to the royal terrace? I believe the temporary one did that from what I read about it but I never had one. In the description it just says “provides access”. It would be a nice additional feature to save that 10 times a day wp cost to la.

The main reason why I bought this was for convenience and to avoid the long load times for LA (on high settings it would take 30 seconds to 2 minutes even on an SSD).

However, I’m going to miss all the free banners people provide.

Thats one more loading screen and inconvenient for some.

You simply don’t need it, especially for 1000 gems. I just use WvW or the PvP lobby to avoid WP costs. I’m lazy, but not /that/ lazy.

I dont like how im being kicked from the terrace every time im doing character select. I left my char near crafting station and I want him to remain there. Not so convenient -_-.

Side effect of “temporary” terrace passes. Otherwise you get the temp pass (world drop), park and alt, and never leave. Although “never leaving” is quite a restriction.

Still… its just so stupid. Its supposed to be elite pass. For the elite customers. But im getting royally kicked out so often….My pride is kinda hurt if u know what i mean.

How do other chr’s get access to the pass? Need to xfer it by bank or is directly accessable on your account like unlocked reward items?

I’m all for saving time during menial travel from point A to point B in MMOs, even if it’s just from the mailbox to the auction house. My characters always have every Swiftness skill in the game equipped when I’m doing stuff in the cities. So I initially thought a permanent Terrace pass would be something I would buy.

Then I imagined what it would be like to constantly use it. My character going to Divinity’s Reach instead of crowded LA, isolated in a little corner of the human city with maybe a couple of other players ignoring me as much as I do them, each of us intend on being as efficient with our time as possible.

That made me realize that the time saving wouldn’t be worth it. Part of the reason I play MMOs is that spontaneous interaction that comes when players gather together in the open world. I don’t want to miss seeing other players lining up around the bank showing off their new legendaries or playing costume brawl. Or miss the often surprisingly skilled musicians performing by the mailbox. Or miss the truly memorable moments, like seeing a whole group who had customized their characters to look like the heroines of the anime Sailor Moon or that norn in pink underwear, boxing gloves and rabbit ears.

It might take me longer to run to the AH each time (and after doing it 100 times or a 1,000 times or 5,000 times, it does add up) but I’m willing to sacrifice that time for the entertainment provided by the open community and to have the chance to maybe provide a little entertainment back to that community myself.
