Anet shot themselves in the foot as far as I’m concerned: I’m not interested in non-permanent services, but am interested in permanent ones, and the one time they sold a permanent Royal pass, they managed to mention it practically as a footnote, and sold them for one day only (never mind that their “whole day sale” is, due to time zones, “just a few hours when not sleeping or at work” to me).

So, to the advertising team: next time you offer permanent services like that, make sure the “permanent” bit is a bit more visible, and perhaps not have two almost-same-except-for-one-crucial-bit sales in sequence.

Just a hint. The royal passes, IF they let you return to where you were, are of interest to me…

You do know that you only get 1 copy in the inventory of 1 chr, do you? If you want another chr. to use it, you need to transfer it manually to that chr…

I was a bit surprised to find out they were the permanent versions as well. Unfortunately this was AFTER they disappeared. I had no interest in the overpriced temporary one, but the perm one had my attention. =/

The ‘sales’ info and notifications have usually failed to provide the news, info and notices in a clear, concise, timely, and unambiguous manner.

When you bring up the trading post with O, it dumps you on the main Gem Shop page where the items were clearly advertised. And after being bitten by one deadline I learned to always check the Promotions page at the Gem Shop to see what might be leaving soon.

At the very least the spike in the Gold to Gem rate should have told you something attractive was being offer.

24 hours. 3am EST/12am PST Friday to 2:59amEST/11:59am PST Saturday. Hardly a few hours.

Reading is really hard.

Hmmm… I usually read the forums at lunch when at work. (Friday lunch was the last time I perused it), so it is news to me to find out a sale has happened and gone. I’m also following GW2 on twitter and facebook.

I’ve always had GW2 e-mails (updates news and sales) sent to me in my e-mail (not in Junk) and even double of the same e-mail in cases. So I’m surprised they didn’t reach me. [not sure who’s fault that is]

Oh well, I guess we both (Anet and I) lose out.

What was on sale btw (since the news page doesn’t show it anymore)? I’ve read from other posts that the Aetherblade armour set was on sale as well as this permanent royal pass. Anything else worth knowing that I missed?

Yea i was waiting for the tool bundle as well but i wasn’t aware of it being in the shop that day :l
I’ll just wait till the next new years sale then :p

The royal pass disappeared for a few days before the permanent one appeared. That and the massive price increase should have signaled something was different.

When you open the BLTP it’s literally the first thing you see. They were 3 items that were on sale each of the three days. I’m not a super perceptive guy or anything, but the permanent royal pass had a different color, cost more and oddly for sale but weren’t “on sale” like the other 2 things.

I wouldn’t expect everyone to pull up google and investigate why on earth would Anet jack up the price on a royal terrace pass on a “sale” day without offering anything new, but hovering your mouse over it just to see if Anet bothered to put in what change did they make to the terrace to warrant the price increase.

Even if you don’t open the BLTC everyday they made the post on the front page of their site when the sale happened to let you know it was happening. And it’s been the norm to have weekend sales (not even because it’s the new years but one should expect something a bit more special during the new years).

Aside from all that, If you didn’t know, Anet makes their BLTC changes (if any) at midnight Server Time. Server Time is PST for those living in the states and for others its GMT -7 or GMT -8, depending on the time of the year. Or you can just set your mini map time to server time via the options menu.

Yeah, this really didn’t work out for me either. I’ve been away on vacation since before New Year’s, still am actually, and don’t read the forums/Twitter/FB that regularly then, nor can I log in to check the BLTC front page. When I happened upon a post of someone mentioning that they’d bought a permanent forum pass I was really interested. (REALLY interested.) I would have bought that baby in a snap.

So I actually downloaded and installed GW2 on my wife’s laptop so I could log in for five minutes and buy the blasted thing…. guess what? It’s not even being sold any more because someone at Anet decided that it’s just too precious or something to want to offer everyone a chance to buy it.

What is that about “Reading is hard”? Maybe next one of you will tell us that you can’t even go offline any more for fear of missing things.

If it’s any consolation, I’m sure ANet will bring it back at some point, so keep an eye out.

I still don’t understand why it’s worth 1000 gems. It’s essentially a trip to Lion’s Arch. Maybe if it also allowed you to pop back to where you were previously it would be worth it, but… meh. It’s barely more convenient than LA, but with the added downside of Divinity’s Reach map chat. (It’s not always bad, but when it’s really bad, it’s the worst place in GW2, in my opinion.)
