It does indeed – I have bought charges (ok, the old crystals or whatever they were called) on discount before and this is definitely NOT the way the discount was calculated. Please fix Anet, I need to gift some charges to my second account

Just made a post about this before I saw this one.
But yeah it’s very much a rip-off, which is very low imo.

The fact that you immediately assume they are being intentionally deceptive speaks more about YOU than their intent. Isn’t it possible someone just made an honest mistake here?

Probably just a miscalculation. Believe it or not, everyone who’s trying to earn a living isn’t trying some cheap scam to inch off a few extra pennies from your wallet.

A simple calculation like 30% that any calculator or search engine can do and we get numbers like this? :

5 pack = 30%
10 pack = ~22.25%
25 pack = 12.5%

These are deliberately entered.
100gems is $1.25 USD so:
5 pack = 105gems = ~$1.31
10 pack = 210gems = ~$2.62
25 pack = 525gems = ~$6.56

If it were really 30% then:
5pack = 105gems = ~$1.31
10 pack = 189gems = ~$2.36 (26 penny savings)
25 pack = 420gems = $5.25 ($1.31 savings)
If the numbers were correct, you could get a 25pack and a 5 pack for the same price as the incorrect price of the 25 pack today!

Guess what, people make mistakes. Whatever intern or low level person who got the job goofed it up. This time it’s just not in our favor.

Last March during the daily sale, Keys were suppose to be 15% off. And they were for 1 and 25 keys but for the 5 pack, instead of 383 gems it was 292 gems, a tad over 35% off. Someone’s fingers were a little off on the keypad that day. Oops.

This time whoever got the job simply scaled up the 5 pack without noticing/realizing that the 10 and 25 pack had different prices. Oops. I’m sure they will get a nice stern talking to after doing a half-butt job of this relatively simple task.

Problem is it’s unlikely to change now because tracking who bought what when and for how much is a time consuming task that I’m sure they wish to avoid.

So buyer beware. It’s still cheaper, just not as much of a savings in bulk.

In the end it is as if there is no account for buying in bulks.

No matter how much you buy .. its always 21 gems for 1 charge.

But it’s 30 gems down to 24 gems normally so 21 gems is still a discount, just not was promised/implied.

Well go to the Gem store now.
They change the pack price of 10 from 270 to 300 and the 25 pack from 600 to 750 -.-
Seriously Anet?
Why not put the correct price of sell instead of changing the old one to make it seem it has 30% discount?

Because it’s easier than fixing it the right way and figure out who gets a refund.

Well its easy.
Just select the people who bought the gems in the sale days and give them the refund of the diference.

Like the 25 pack should be 420 so they have to give guys 105 gems.
They send a mail to you with the gems or just return to your account the diference.

@whiteflowers: If you’re just going by who bought gems on that day, they’d be giving far more people gems than the people who actually bought the trans charge packs.

Just because you bought gems on, say, Monday, it doesn’t mean you only bought things that were on sale that day…

They have all the information of who buys what right?
So they go to that info and select people who bought 10/25 transmutation stones in the sale.
They select those people and send them the diference thats 105 on the 25 pack and 21 on the 10 pack gems.

Yes they may have bough something else but they sure bought the TC.
So every person who bought TC since it is on sale would get that diference.

I’m not a programmer or something but isnt it easy to go to the system and see who bought what and select the people that bought x stuff?

Like Person A bought X then Person A gets Y.
Person B bought XX then Person B gets Z.

X= transmutation charges 10 pack
XX= transmutation charges 25 pack
Y= 21gems (diference of 10pack)
Z=105gems (diference of 25pack)

Instead of being 30% of the original price its 30% per transmutation.

1TC = 30 gems, 30% of 30 gems = 21 gems.
So they just multply the 21 for the number of TC and get the final price.

I dont think Anet will gonna change it, now that the sale its going to end.
And I think they will not give the diference back to people.

So, untill we know from Anet, we need to say its intended, I guess.
We just need clearence from them.

TBH, this seems to be ludicrous.

I’m guessing save face but lets make sure this doesn’t slip though the cracks post sale and make noise if the cost break for volume doesn’t return.

I was saying the 30% off (that is not really 30% off on the packs(10/25)) were not a mistake since they didnt change the prices yet.
They put the 30% off per price of transmutation not per pack get it?

1TC = 30 gems, 30% of 30 gems = 21 gems.
So they just multply the 21 for the number of TC and get the final price.

But its stupid since they did 40% off per pack in the Dyes and not on the Transmutations -.-

The increased of the original price was a mistake like the comment of SevenBitBrian.8413 said.
Since they had the time to change that mistake (the increase the original price) but did not put the packs(10/25 TC) on 30% we can assume its intended and not a mistake.
