Or maybe it is part of his evil plan to gain control of the ghastly grinning shield market.

Not for tickets but as a direct rare drop from chests, just like the contract.

Vol has succesfully resold chaos of lyssa for 1500g. Why would this halloween shield, not be part if his resell plan? 50/50 i’d say. Sometimes he’s completley honest, And i think i believe him this time. But he loves reselling, so be carefull.

But I guess it’s a lot more likely to have it retain a 7-ticket cost, which would still be gold saved

I’m very honest about my trades, I don’t recall ever trying to pump/dump.

Regarding Lyssa, I made +-700g profit on that and that’s just from flipping rather than speculating. I bought it at the buy order of 1500g and resold at 2550g
. And that’s pretty much my only flip as I find that side of TP playing boring.

If I were to theoretically turn evil and try my hand at pumping/dumping, I would do it on high-velocity items so that I could make thousands of gold in profit with minimal risk.

i.e. gold, silver, leathers, crystals, orbs

Yeah totally weird, considering the 2012 Halloween weapon skins have all been direct drops from BLCs.

the Greatsaw is the only thing i own that feels like it has some form of prestigious value since it is no longer obtainable.

imho getting one-time-only rewards is the best part of an MMO,
sure there will be some you miss (like i never got the wings of the sunless)
but bringing rewards back just diminishes their value.

i really hope this is’nt true! but i figure it will be, because people will buy keys.

If they do come back I will most likely quit playing.
I grinded on and off for months and months to get enough gold to buy some of them.
Bought the scythe back when it was 100g, which was a lot of gold back then, bought 2 chain swords and the rifle a month or so later, bought a greatsaw about 6 months ago.

Please arenanet, leave what is imo, the most rare and prestigious skins in the game alone, they were originally “advertised” as a one-off event drop after all.

Actually I don’t recall them ever saying the Halloween skins were once-off event drops at all.

In any case, I wouldn’t EVER bet on an item never coming back. Back during Flame & Frost, Colin did once say that he didn’t envision the Jetpack ever being released again as that would impact on its status as a prestige item, and yet lo and behold, it got released again during the Battle for Lion’s Arch.

The only guarantee in the world of business is that if there’s enough demand for something, and people are willing to pay, it WILL come back.

Straight from the Ghastly Grinning Shield wiki:

This weapon skin is no longer available during Halloween. The skin was released during Halloween 2012, and was announced to have been the last chance to obtain the skin during the Shadow of the Mad King release.

Edit: You’re probably right though, recently it has become clear that money is the only deciding factor, not players or logic.

Always take information from the wiki with a grain of salt, unless it has a cited source. The wiki can be (and has been) edited by random strangers with incorrect data before.

If they follow previous BL skin releases it MAY be available for 1 ticket for 2 weeks…..

THAT would definitely effect those currently on the TP.

How were they made available previously?

This is also because they’re making the skins available for the Chinese players, it’s still speculation as to whether or not it’ll be available again for our region.

The expensive ones now, were drops from BL chests and Mad King chests, you could also buy temporary versions of some with candy corn IIRC, some were dropped as recipes and had to be crafted.

I spent maybe.. $100 on keys that year, didn’t get any, later bought them for several thousand gold/2000 hours of casual gold saving.

I sincerely hope they aren’t coming back, as much as it sucks for people who weren’t around, they’re still available and are IMO one of the few skins in the game that make me smile every time.

I want one, but I want a precedent of truly time exclusive items to be maintained as a sign of thanks for players who started with the game and continue to play. If some have made a lot of gold with it, good for them!

Looking at a market perspective, the Shield Skin was a slightly better investment than gems. Without the extra tax on gems, they follow an almost identical curve.
