This was the best place i saw to ask this question.

I need to know a couple of things:
1) Are legendary weapons account/soulbound?
2) Will ANet allow this if it is for charity?

I had an idea I would love to go through with about auctioning off a legendary weapon to raise money for a charity. I don’t have one yet (not even close really) but I’m working towards it. And since I know things like selling gold for real money is a bannable offense, I’m guessing selling an item would be the same (even though games are starting to SET UP systems for this!)

I guess the other issue, if this actually is possible in the first place, is how to get someone to trust that the money is going to charity. I don’t know, so if anyone knows of a way short of setting up a private foundation, I would like to know!

I don’t know if they would allow it, but I’m sure there are non profits that handle these kinds of auctions.

I would still need them to not ban me, haha.

I actually had a much more elaborate idea, but I would need full Anet cooperation and I couldn’t get a response.

Because Anet maintains a monopoly on RMT, the only feasible way to do this is to have them arrange for a charity drive. That would also eliminate the trust issue, since all that stuff would be on the books.

Whats RMT? That would be awesome if Anet did some kind of charity drive! I really wish I could raffle it off, that way I think more people would donate, but thats technically illegal.

Anet! let me use your game for charity, please!

I doubt they would allow this for legendary weapons. It would be the same as letting us buy them for $25. completely takes away all the achievement from getting on and diminishes the effort people went through to get them

I do support the idea of selling SOMETHING for charity, maybe a clothing set or other weapons. Just not legendaries

Do you represent the organization? If so, let PR handle it. If not, the most you can do is offer the suggestion, which it appears you’ve done. I would not expect them to reply directly to you.
